After I agreed to join Clayton's gang, they made me sign a contract, we said our goodbyes and Clayton drove me to my car, in the school parking lot, we didn't really say anything the whole ride and when we arrived to my car, I got out of his car without a word being said from either of us, and I drove the whole way home in pure, udder silence, as I contemplated my life choices.
So here I am now standing in front of my front door, figuring out how I'm gonna get past my grandmother without her seeing my cast.
I slowly crept open the door, stepping through and shutting it quietly.
Just as I was about to walk up the stairs Gammy calls for me,
"Samantha honey! Is that you?"
I debated on ignoring her but, it sounded to cruel. I set my bag on the floor by the stairs and walked into the kitchen.
"Hey Gams," I say, as she stands with her back facing me, at the stove.
"Hi, Sweethea-" She says, as she turns towards me but, stops mid sentence and drops the pie filling she was mixing in a bowl as she gapes at my cast.
I hold my cast in my left hand as she walks towards me.
"What on earth happened Samantha Renee?" She says, grabbing my cast gently and examining it.
"I just tripped, just good ole clumsy me, nothing big." I say, with a nervous chuckle.
"Nothing big?! Samantha you have a cast on your arm that's pretty big!"
"Actually it's my wrist." I say, trying to enlighten the conversation.
She narrows her eyes at me and gives me a stern look, "Is this the errand you had to do the other day?" She says, holding my arm.
I look down at my shoes as my cheeks flush red in embarrassment.
"Why didn't you tell me Samantha?"
"Gammy it was nothing big, honestly I just tripped." I say, looking up at her.
Her look softens and she ask, "Are you sure?"
"Gammy I promise if I majorly got hurt I would've called you. I just happened to have a clumsy moment."
She pulls me into a hug, and then let's me go, turning to pick up her bowl off the floor.
I take a seat on the bar stool at the island.
"So how long do you have to keep it on?" She ask, as she cleans her bowl out in the sink.
"Six weeks or so, depends if I have another clumsy accident and mess it up again." I say, looking through her cook book on the island.
"Well don't have another accident."
"No promises." I mumble, quietly under my breath.
"Hot honey tea and milk?" Gammy ask me, wiping her hands on her apron.
"Please." I say, with a small smile.
"So, why're you home late today?" She ask, as she pulls out the ingredients for the drink.
"Stayed at the library and studied." I lie.
"Ah, typical Samantha."
I smile at her comment.
"Yep typical me."
"What I wanna know is how you managed to keep that cast from me for two days?" She ask, as she heats up the tea in the kettle.
"Well, the day I said I had things to do, I went and got my pain pills, after the Doctor of course. And then I went to the cafe and had dinner,"
"Sunville?" Gammy ask, interrupting me.
