Jakes house^^^/Mathews mansion
I hop out of my car, slamming the door, and locking it.
I look up as I walk towards the immaculate house.
Jake stands at the top of the steps in front of the huge wooden door, his hands in the pockets of his khaki pants, he's wearing a red hoodie and black nikes, his black hair has grown out a bit, sticking up in random places.
"Hi." I say quietly as I reach him.
He nods, giving me a slight smile.
"Hey."
I stare at him for a moment before walking towards him, wrapping my arms around his torso.
He sighs, wrapping his arms around me.
I pull back, looking up at him.
"Long time no see." I say.
He chuckles, pulling apart from me, "Yeah, you could say that."
I smile, looking down at my shoes.
He opens the big door, stepping in, letting a wave of hot air engulf me.
"Come in?" He ask, looking at me.
I nod, stepping in.
"Moms out right now or I would introduce you. She took the twins to get some yogurt and took Liberty to dance class and Shane to karate." He looks back at me, shrugging, "You know to get their mind off things."
I nod in response as I follow him through the huge house, "I'm assuming Liberty and Shane are the five year old fraternal twins you never mentioned?" I question.
He scratches the back of his neck as we enter the kitchen, "I thought I mentioned them."
I shake my head in response as I sit at the island and he makes his way towards the fridge.
"Does your mom know about me?"
He grabs two glass bottles of Dr.Pepper out of the fridge, popping the cap off, walking towards me.
"Yeah," He says, setting the drink in front of me, taking a swig of his, "Told her everything after she found out. She knows I knew."
I grab the cold glass bottle, pulling it towards me, "How'd she take it?" I ask, looking up at him.
He looks down at the counter, "She was upset I didn't tell her but," he looks up at me "she understood why I didn't say anything. She loved my father, still does, but she didn't appreciate the way he did things, she's not holding a grudge. She knows how he is."
I nod, taking a sip of my drink, "That's good."
He nods.
"This is a huge house. It's nice." I say, looking around.
"Yeah, dad bought it when I was younger, he wanted a big family, though that didn't really happen. Mom wants to move to a smaller suburb one now since he's gone. She's always thought it was too big for all of us." He says.
I chuckle, "Yeah, it's pretty enormous."
He nods, looking at me.
I sigh, "I'm sorry Jake. I didn't mean for this to happen, I didn't plan for our dad to be killed, for you and the twins to be without a dad. Not like me, he was there for you guys."
He shakes his head, "No don't apologize. He had it coming, if wasn't from his own gang, it would've been from someone else. He was in a lot of shit. He didn't stop when I was born, but he should've stopped when the twins were born. It wasn't fair to them."
