I sigh as I lock up the last door of the cafe.

I throw the keys in my back pack along with my work clothes. I pull my phone out of my back pocket and look up at the time.

10:54 p.m.

And Cash is still not here.

Surprise, surprise.

Note the sarcasm.

I tighten my jacket tighter around me as the cold air nips at my skin. Scrolling through my contacts, I stop on one name, my fingers lingers over it, hesitating to click the call button.

I suck in a gasp of air and click the button bringing the phone to my ear, it rings a few times before the line picks up.

"Sam?" He ask huskily.

"Hi...Jake."

It's been awhile since me and Jake have talked, I just kind of started ignoring him ever since my grandma died, I honestly don't know why, he didn't do anything to me.

"Hi, I mean hey, hey what's up?" He says shyly through the phone.

"The sky." I joke, trying to lighten the mood. He chuckles, "Actually um I called for, for a favor."

I can hear his deep breaths through the phone as he hesitates on what I said.

"Yeah?" He ask.

"Could you possibly pick me up from work?"

I hear the phone shuffle around and then Jakes voice sounds through it again,

"Uh, yea okay, yea I'll be their in three minutes."

I sigh in relief, "Okay, thanks." I say.

"Your welcome."

I bring the phone down and hang up.

I push the phone into my leather jacket pocket and tilt my head up, looking at the dark sky above me. The stars twinkled slightly in all their white shiny glory, some brighter than others. The moon hung in the sky as full as ever.

Sometimes I wish I could just escape, just reach my hand up and touch the stars pulling myself up to the them and taking a ride on the moon but, obviously that's physically impossible unless you want to get burned to death.

I close my eyes, taking a sharp intake of air through my nose. The smell of pine trees and apple spice swirling through.

I tilt my head down again and flutter my eyes open, the look of Christmas lights hanging outside on the roofs of people's houses and stores around the cafe and Jakes hummer parked in front of me, engulf my vision.

I let out a deep breath as my breath fans the air and instantly turns into a cloud of cold fog. I pull my strap farther up my shoulder as I walk to his hummer, the sound of my keys jangling against each other in my bag.

I pull open the car door and slide in, setting my bag in the floor board in front of me. I shut the door gently and sit back in my seat, buckling up as Jake drives off.

I take a moment to let the hot air engulf me and warm me up. I look over at Jake as he stares out at the road.

His eyebrows are scrunched together in concentration forming little wrinkles on his forehead. His nose slants perfectly down, his lips are plump with one side tugged up a bit. His thick eyelashes flutter shut and open every once in awhile and the street lights reflect into his blue eyes bringing out the oceany color. His hair is brushed down flat with a few pieces sticking up here and their, he's wearing a loose black shirt with grey joggers, black and white Dc's and dog tags hang loosely around his neck, something carved into them that I can't quite see. The muscle he has flexes out as his hand rest on the steering wheel, he's fit but, not to fit.
