The news was as icy as the wind on the clouds. She had to kill her father? He was a horrible human, a tyrant- but it was the ultimate sin to kill her own blood.
By the time Luna and Glacies had finished their exchange- darkness was spewing across the sky. The night was dangerous in the ice kingdom, and so Glacies offered her a bed in her castle. It was a huge compliment, and Luna was bewildered with the amount of hospitality that was given to her.
As she lay in bed, tossing and turning about what she had to do to reverse the spell, she continued to catch Julian peering at her from his stance near the door. He was making sure she did not leave, or steal- or do anything for that matter. Luna glared at him, ignoring the warmth she felt in her gaze when she did so.
Julian was frustrated. These feelings were strange, unfamiliar. It made him almost angry. The centaur shook his head, stomping his hoof to clear his head. She was a threat, a simple guest. Nothing more. And although he admired her resilience, and the way her freckles lined her face- that's all she would ever be to him.
The morning came in what felt like forever. Luna hadn't been able
to close her eyes, because each time she did the image of her father replayed in her mind. The thought haunted her as she prepared to
leave the castle, hoisting her satchel over her shoulder.
Glacies's icy luminaries followed her, lovingly in a way, as she moved down the profuse path and Julian was left wishing he had spoked more with the beautiful princess.
It was a long journey, as she had learnt before, and Luna met all
sorts of brilliant creatures. Lizards, birds, lions- all flamboyant and frosted in color. This kept her going, entertained, through her trek home.
About halfway there she caught sight of a rock, flat and dry with sun filtering upon it. It seemed like a nice place to stop for lunch, so she strode over and took a seat before opening her satchel to find her canteen. She saw it, but there was something else that was missing. Her...ring? The one her mother gave her, suddenly absent from her bag. Instantly she felt her heart drop to her feet, knowing somewhere along the way it must have fallen into the snow. Luna was never one to cry, but she felt the sting of cold tears on her eyes
as she closed it in disappointment.
Meanwhile, back at Glacies's home, Julian was sweeping in Luna's room when he heard a clink against the broom. Something shiny, thin. He picked it up and put it into his palm. A
Royal ring, with chocolate diamonds and a beautiful blue stone. There was something engraved, "To my beautiful daughter- Luna."
He clenched the piece in his hands and looked out of the window, seeing her footprints in the snow. The centaur's hooves clapped against the ground as he galloped past Glacies, "T-the girl! She forgot her ring!" he called to the bear, over his shoulder.
And as he darted into the snow-licked forest, the goddess felt a satisfied smirk spread across her white snout. Glacies knew all, remember?
