Epilogue

Epiolgue

The morning was beautiful, the sky blue and few clouds blemished it. The castle was alive, as it had been stone-cold and without emotion since the death of the Queen. But now, as the castle gates flung to welcome in any kingdom-creature, it was like a whole new place.

The mote that lay surrounding the castle and below the draw-bridge? That now lay home to Mare-Equo. Although, he promised to return to the original lake. He'd been there too long to move now, and would only come to the mote in the summers to help with the castle's festivities. However, the sisters would visit regularly.

Everyone else stayed where they were, and despite Acranum's demise, most of the shadow creatures were just too far gone to transform back to their original selves. After all, they'd spent centuries stuck in the shadows. One can't come back from that.

Music rippled trough the air as Flamula rested on Bellus's spikes, whistling a sweet tune trough her flute as the two greeted anyone entering the castle. They would return to their fiery home soon, but would visit frequently.

Today was a grand day, and a vastly important one. Luna and Ilios sat upstairs in the costume room. Ilios was frantically styling Luna's hair. "I can't believe we woke up two hours late on consorting day." she cried, desperately pinning hair to the top of her sister's head

That's right. Today was consorting day, or crowing day. Soon, the throne would be in the hands of Luna. Ilios was the true heir to the throne, but she decided Luna would be better fit to rule the land. Ilios was too reckless.

When the two sisters had finally finished preparing themselves, Ilios left the room to go greet the gathered people. Some wherent too happy, considering the delay.

"Welcome all! Pardon our tardiness. Luna, ahem, Princess Luna will be attending in just a moment. Please, help yourselves to our wine and entrees. After all, the king's reign is no more."

Ah , yes. That lightened the mood a bit. The crow cheered at her latter notion, and parted to go taste the Royal liquor.

Meanwhile, Luna gazed from the colored stainless widows of her bedroom. She glanced at her pink walls, decorated with sickeningly-sweet unicorns and rainbows.  She was grown now, no more magical fantasies for her. She was an adult, with a broken kingdom to lead, and her father's mess to pick up.

She sighed, slightly loud, tucking a curl behind her ear.

"Why the long face?"

Luna glanced over her shoulder at the centaur, offering a weak smile. Those warm sapphire eyes could cheer her up any day. "I'm just scared, Julian. What if I can't do this..."
He shook his head, eyes quickly filling with concern as she sat down. "No, no. Hey, if anyone can do this its you. Your the strongest person I've ever met."

She shrugged, smoothing her dress against her knees, "I don't want to do it alone."
"You don't have to. You have me, and Ilios."
"No, Julian. I mean I need a king."
"You need a-"
"That means you.."
"Oh."

He blinked, as if it wasn't quite registering yet. Rubbing a palm on his beanie, he tilted his head, "You want us to get married and rule the kingdom together?"
"Y-yes.."
"That sounds like a dream-come-true."

Luna smirked, and the two touched lips for a moment, "We really have to get going."

They looked like a picture perfect couple. Julian, looking sleek and sharp in a black tux that coordinated perfectly with Luna's dark and lavender dress.

The crowd gasped, parting so they could make way for the pair to wake up the isle.

Ilios stood by the throne, holding a golden platter with two glinting accessories. There was alarge and regal silver crown with your classic set of rubies and diamonds. And a thin tiara, almost totally formed by diamonds with a grand chocolate-Ruby that hung right from the middle.

The two stepped forward to her, both looking exceptionally excited and nervous. Their arms lay entwined as Ilios cleared her throat.

"It is with great honor and excitement that we gather here today to behold our new king and queen. Let this be the beginning of better times for Ficta Somnia, and let it be a fresh new start."

She grinned, Triberus gently picking the crown into his hands as Ilios held the tiara, "With these crowns, let this be the end of King Poten's reign!" she and Triberus placed the headpieces gently upon their head and crowds erupted in applause.
