Chapter 18

The journey was painful, hard and tiresome on stiff hooves. Clouds of cold air exhaled from the Centaur's gritted teeth, heavy breathing stemming from the fierce pain that flamed through his attacked leg. Soon he'd arrive home, although the snow beat down upon him and his leg lay sliced against the frigid air.

He stepped into the warmth of the ice castle, frosted blue gaze examining. The polar queen was no where to be seen.

"Glacies?" The injured gaurdian called.

The fireplace was cold, no sign of anyone using it in the past day. A gust of cold air from the back door, which was oddly open, caught his attention.

He moved toward it, eyes narrowed at the paw prints in the snow. Deep, heavy prints moved into the forest. Where was Glacies going?

It was then, as the entirety of the ice forest fell into an eerie silence, Julian knew. Glacies had gone to the castle. The Arctic Queen had gone and left to go see King Poten.

And by the way the sky stormed over, and the snow stopped falling, Julian knew Glacies was in trouble.

"Y-you've hurt him...you hurt Julian."

The king twirled a grey hair, a crooked smile spreading across his wrinkled face. "Yes, yes I did." Cold grey eyes stared at the ice bear behind bars. His dungeon had many prisoners, but none had been as important as Glacies. Yes, Poten was proud of himself.

He pulled a chair and seated himself. "Do you think I don't know what you all are planning? Do you find me stupid?  My whole kingdom is turning against me!"

Glacies bared her teeth, "Your own daughters recognize how cruel your are."

"I don't have any daughters."

She rolled her eyes, "When are you going to stop denying it, Poten? Those girls you banished, were your own flesh and blood. Y-"

"Silence." He slammed his fist against the metal bars, "Besides, you made the poor decision to come here. Wanted to avenge Julian, eh? And now look where you are..."

Glacies huffed, the snow whirling violently outside the castle. Once she escaped- she would not let this go by unpunished.
