The sacrifices made by veterans and their willingness to fight in defense of our nation merit our deep respect and praise.
- Sue Kelly

I am here today, standing among hundreds of other men and women, at my fathers funeral. Two weeks ago he was killed while in Washington DC by a man who had been planing to do so for a very long time. I'm standing in the front row, next to my mother, when 8 men all in uniform come out carrying my fathers casket. The American flag is laid out over the top. The men carry him to the front and put him down on a stand. Many have tears in their eyes. I knew these were the 8 members of my dads personal crew. These men fought all their battles together.

The funeral began. There were hundreds of people here. Members from all 5 branches of Armed Forces. His former teammates are here. Everybody is here in honor of my father.

I was teary eyed through the whole funeral. I was thankful when it was all over. The funeral itself wasn't that long, nearly everybody at the funeral wanted to pay their respects to my mom, brother, and I. It was hard talking about him more, but it was nice to know how many people truly trusted and respected my father. Nearly everyone had gone through. There was only one family left. The Gronkowski's. I was happy to see them, but even more happy to see Rob. As they were walking up to us, I began walking towards Rob. When we finally reached each other he pulled me into the biggest hug I have ever experienced. He held me so tight and so loving that everything seemed like it was going to be okay.

The boys said that they wanted to go out for dinner tonight. I think they were trying to get our minds off of the funeral. So we went to a pizza restaurant and ordered 4 large pizzas. I will admit. I didn't think about the funeral at all while at dinner with them. Those boys are just so loud and funny that they can make you forget about everything.

We got back to my house, which just so happens to be where the boys are staying. We only have two guest bedrooms for 6 guys to share. Their dad got his own bedroom, of course. And Gordie and Dan are sharing the second guest bedroom. That means that Chris, Rob, and Glenn would all have to sleep on the couches downstairs. Well. Chris and Glenn do. I'm going to sneak Rob up into my room once my mom and his dad fall asleep.

It was 10:30 and everyone was already getting ready to go to bed. Normally the boys would be staying up really late, but with everything rang happened today, they were just ready for some sleep. Chris and Glenn are on our huge sectional in the main living room and Rob is on the sectional in the basement.

At 11:00 I got out of my bed and walked over to the first bedroom to make sure that Gordon had gone to sleep. Then I walked over to my moms room to make sure she was asleep. Once I made sure they were both out, I quietly made my way down the stairs into and passed the living room. Surprisingly, both Chris and Glenn were already asleep. I was hoping Rob wasn't.

I made my way to the basement steps and down them. I turned the corner and sure enough, Rob was sitting their watching TV. I walked over to him and sat down next to him. He didn't say anything, he only put his arm around me. We sat their watching TV for a little while before anyone said anything.

"Will you sleep with me Rob?" I asked sweetly.

"I thought you'd never ask." He said while turning of the TV and picking me up and carrying me back to my bedroom.

We didn't do anything that night. Only laid in my bed all cuddled up and slept, enjoying each other's company and embrace.
