*5 months later*
Today is the day that I am leaving for Africa. I am so excited, yet so sad at the same time. Rob had come to visit for two weeks before I left.
I had already said goodbye to Jack, who was going to be staying with Amy while I was gone. Rob and Adam were both taking me to the airport to drop me off for my flight.
Once we got to the airport, we hoped out of the car and got somebody to put all my bags on a cart and take them in. The three of us were all still standing at the car though.
"I'll call, text, and Skype you guys whenever I can. I can't promise you that I will have wifi or reception all the time, but I can promise you that when I do, I will talk to you guys." I said. "Adam, make sure you take care of Jack. I know Amy will be there, but you still need to watch him."
"I will." He said while giving me the biggest hug he has ever given anyone.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
And with that he turned away and hopped in the front seat of the car. Next, I looked at Rob.
"Make sure you keep and eye out on them." I said. "They both trust you. So I need you to be there for them as much as you can."
"I will Paisley. I'm not the one you need to worry about. I know there will be people around you all the time, but please, be careful." He said looking into my eyes.
I stood on my tippy toes giving him a long, lingering kiss.
"I love you." Rob said as he pulled me in for a hug.
"I love you too." I said softly into his chest, but still loud enough for him to hear me.
We pulled away and I have him one last peck on the lips.
With that, I walked away and into the airport. I didn't look back because I knew that would make the pain 10 times worse.
I got through all the security and found my gate. But not before I could grab Starbucks. I found an open seat at my gate and sat down with my purse and backpack. All my other stuff had been checked was being loaded. It was another 30 minutes before I was able to board the plane. I found my seat and sat down. I was a little surprised that it was first class, but then again I wasn't.
It took 15 minutes before everyone was in the plane and situated. The flight attendants went through the standard procedure of the seat belts and emergency exits that we have all heard before. Soon after we began moving on the runway and started out takeoff.
Once we were in the air I was was pretty happy that there was nobody sitting next to me. Actually, there was nobody sitting anywhere near me. So I put in my headphones, turned the music up, and at back for this 16 hour flight to Cape Town, Africa.
