Chapter 22

Summer's POV
I wake up and don't see Winter. That makes me worried. She was having a REALLY bad day yesterday. I walk into Kellan's room to see if he has seen her. When I walk in I see her and Kellin sleeping. His arms are wrapped around her in a comforting way and she looks so happy in his big t-shirt that she is wearing like a nightgown. I walk over to wake them up and I see a big gash on her leg. It looks Kellin took care of it but I'm not for sure cause there is blood on the bed and a little on the leg.
"Kellin, Winter, wake up!" I yell
"Ok. Welcome to my room. Make yourself comfortable. Feel free to wake me up from my nice slumber." Kellin says in a sarcastic tone.
"Whatever. I need you to exit the room Kellin." I say
"It's my bedroom!"
"I don't care."
"But..." before he can finish his sentence Winter interrupts
"Kellin, can you please let my and Summer talk for a little bit in here?" She asks
"I guess." He says getting up and walking out shutting the door behind him
"So what do you want to talk about?" She asks
"First of all. Your leg."
"I kind of broke mirror the glass broke and cut my leg." She says
"Is your leg bleeding?"
She looks down at her leg and says "a little"
"Go look at the bed."
"Oh no. My leg bled on his bed." She says
"Ya."
"So why did you want to talk to me without him here?"
"I want to know if you guys are together."
"No. Well kind of. I don't know."
"How do you not know?"
"Well. He ask me to be his girlfriend and I told him I didn't think it was a good idea."
"Why? Don't you like him?"
"Ya. I do. I like him a lot. Like a lot a lot. I just. I don't know."
"What ever." I say
"Is that all you needed?"
"Yup" and with that we get up and walk out of the roomWhen we walked out the room Kellin was in the kitchen with Ash. Dang it. I meant Ashton. Ash and I went to the movies last night to see Star Wars. I was super confused and so was Ashton. So, we ended up leaving. The city was really pretty last night. That's not important. The most important. Last night Ashton gave me a locket. It's really pretty. That's when he asked me out. I of coursed said yes. I hoped Winter would notice but she didn't. I really hope we don't start fading apart. Ashton and I decided that we would keep our relationship on the down low. When we walked into the kitchen Ashton and Kellin were in some deep conversation. All I could make out was them asking "how 'it' went". I didn't exactly know what 'it' was but whatever. I wasn't really hungry so I didn't eat. Winter ate more than usually probably because when she has a bad day she refuses to eat.
I was trying not to draw too much attention to the locket nor Ashton. I failed. I kept putting the locket in my hand twirling it around. Winter noticed and smirked saying "What you playing with Summer?"
"Nothing", I say mentally cursing myself for being me.
"No like that right there", Winter says having the whole table look at me. Luckily my mom was going out to get gas.
"Oh this? Something I got yesterday.", I say, "I'm gonna go get dressed." I get up from the table and walk to Jack's room knowing that's where I left my suitcase last.
"Hey, I hear I know that voice it was Winter.
"Hey", I say.
"Can I see that?", Winter asked talking about the locket. My heart skipped a beat know that she was gonna see the engravings on the back. On the back it said "Since November 16, 2015", that's the day he asked me out. I knew she would see it. I don't know why,because I wanted to tell her anyway.
"Yeah", I say and unclasped my locket and hand it to her. She looks at it and she has tears in her eyes.
"It's beautiful.",She says her eyes were glossy like the class slumber in Cinderella, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I wanted you to notice the necklace, but me and Ash I mean Ashton are trying to keep it on the down low for a little while. Just until he grows on my mom.", I say smiling.
"Okay, I won't tell her" She says her smile fading a few seconds after.
"What's wrong?", I say a little worried considering last night.
"I'm just I'm confused, with Kellin and I. He told me he thinks he loves me last night. That's a big thing. He wants me to steal his heart to make it better. I'm scared I'm just gonna break it even more," She says with worry in her eye, "He opened up to me. I just shut him out. I told him that I don't think we can be together because I'm a negative he's a positive and if we times it by each other we only make a negative. He told me he was a negative. I just can't help but think I'm letting my safety pin slip out of my hands." She lets her tears fall from her eyes and I can't help but think what if he is her safety pin? What if he's the last source of happiness she needs?
