For april-xoxo

You were out shopping. You needed to buy some food for the Griers. Mrs. Grier had called earlier and said that Hayes seemed a little sick, and asked if you could pick up some food and medicine. You were really worried about him. According to his mom, he had locked himself in his room and turned all the lights out. You decided to check on him when you dropped the stuff off at his house. You picked up everything, including the medicine for Hayes, and some other stuff in case he was sick.

You pulled into the Griers driveway and let yourself in. They were used to you coming over and you were the same for them. After you brought all the bag in, you all put all the food away. Mrs. Grier walked down the stairs. "Hey, y/n! Thank you so much for running to the store for me. I was just about to check on Hayes," she says, hugging you. You hug her back and say, "No problem! I can check on him if you want. I'll call you if he needs something."

She smiles, "Thanks so much. I'll come up in a couple of minutes too." You bring the back of stuff up for Hayes. You lightly knocked on his door, hearing a groan on the other side. "Come in," his raspy voice said. You slowly opened the door to see him laying in bed. His cheeks were flushed, he looked pale, and there were bags under his eyes. Tissues were scattered everywhere. The lights were off, but there was sunlight coming from the windows.

"Aw, babe, what's wrong?" you ask. He winces and you become concerned. "Migraine," he rasps. "Is there anything I can do?" you say, lowering your voice. "Yeah, could you pull down the shades and get me a glass of water?" he asks, wincing at the sunlight. "Sure," you whisper before pulling the shades down. You go downstairs and see Mrs. Grier rummaging around in the kitchen. "He has a migraine," you explain, and she becomes worried.

"Ok, Chad brought Skylynn to a friend's house, and Nash is out." she says, "I'm going to go up and see him." You nod as you fill up a glass of water before tip-toeing back upstairs behind Mrs. Grier. Once you get into the room, you hand it to him. He takes a long, needed sip and quietly places it on the bedside table. "Thanks," he says before clutching his head and groaning. Mrs. Grier sits on the edge of his bed. "Poor baby," she whispers, moving his hair out of his face.

He scooches over so you could lay down. You lay down next to him and he wraps his arms around you. "Hayes, you're burning!" Mrs. Grier whisper-yells. Heat radiates from him and you also feel his forehead. It's spiking with a fever. You grab the medicine from the bag and open it, handing it to his mom. "Here, take some Advil for your headache. Y/n,would you mind grabbing the thermometer for me?" she says. He moves his arms so you can get up and grab the thermometer and some Motrin.

You come back and hand them to Mrs. Grier. She puts the thermometer in his mouth and tells him to put it under his tongue. About a minute later, it beeps. Mrs. Grier's phone rings and she hesitantly leaves the room. You take it out of his mouth and read it. Your eyes widen. He looks up at you with his now dull blue eyes. "103.7," you whisper, "Hayes, you're really sick. Aw, baby." He yawns, wincing, before looking at you.

Mrs. Grier comes back into the room with a sad look on her face. "Y/n, I am really sorry. I have an important meeting that I can't get out of. Do you think you can take care of him?" she asks. "Yeah, definitely. Don't worry about it, Elizabeth," you smile. "Thank you so much," she says before leaving. Hayes yawns again, snuggling into the blankets more. "Go to sleep, Hayes," you whisper. He then looks at the empty space on the bed next to him, then back at you.

You sigh before laying down and pulling the covers up. His arms wrap around you again and you see him fall asleep. His soft snores then put you to sleep. You wake up about 2 hours later to something hitting you. You open your eyes to see Hayes thrashing around in his sleep. "Hayes, wake up," you whisper, lightly shaking him. His blue eyes pop open and dart around while he pants. "Hey, calm down," you soothe, stroking his head.

"My head hurts so much," he groans. He puts his hands to his head, almost trying to stop the headache that permanently lives in his brain now. "I feel so dizzy," he moans, rolling over. "Here, have some water," you whisper, handing it to him. He slowly finishes it, then closes his eyes tightly. You hear him mumble, "It's just a migraine." You then let him rest his head on your stomach, and continue stroking his head. "Shh," you soothe.

Every once in a while, he would tense up in pain and you would rub his back, whispering soothing words. After he sleeps, he would stir and wake up, looking you in the eye. "I love you, Y/n," he would mumble, drifting off again. "I love you too, Hayes," you would say back, then fall asleep with him.
