It's a long while before I hear the others surfacing from the bedroom, mumbling and groaning sleepily to themselves. According to my phone it's 9am when they all drag themselves out of bed; a new record!
Just before anyone thinks to wander into the kitchen, I empty the dirty washing hamper into the washing machine, hiding any evidence of my incident with the dream earlier. The only evidence left is Shane's deductive little scheming mind, a mind that's clearly going to rip the piss out of me for this until the day I either die or own up to being gay or bi - and I'm neither gay nor bi. Ah, hell.
"Drew, doing washings this early?" Laurence blinks in surprise. "Bit weird."
"I got up early, couldn't sleep on the sofa. Besides, there's nothing wrong with being one of the only ones keeping the flat in order, right?" I cock an eyebrow at him, and he grins guiltily.
"Aye, aye..." He mutters, before traipsing across the room and grabbing his panda mug from the cupboard to the left of the sink, plopping it down in front of the kettle and proceeding to make himself a cup of coffee. "When're you and Barrone getting it on, then?"
"What?!" I exclaim. "What makes you think we're 'getting it on'?!"
"The way you've acted with each other recently. Usually you're both joined at the hip. Now? He's in the other room, fast asleep, and you're not still asleep. Means you've got something on your mind, usually does. And there's that mug on the draining board you obviously washed not too long ago, means you were drinking tea to keep you awake, because you got up earlier than expected, probably from either a nightmare, some kind of dodgy dream, or Shane woke you up to get his leg over. You're wearing different pyjama bottoms than the ones you wore to bed last night, which means either you pissed yourself, or got your dirties on them. Could mean you and Shane got a little action last night." My dirties?! Is that what you're calling them now?! "And then there's the way you've acted, so utterly awkward and squeamish, which means you've most likely had some weird, traumatic experience - either you pissed yourself and got caught changing your pyjamas, or Shane and you got your first bit of action last night...well, the latter would explain why you're not walking around, you'd be walking like a duck-"
"What makes you think I'd be the bottom?!" I yell. "That's absurd!"
Laurence chuckles. "Well, you're still in denial about that, so you obviously didn't get laid...pissed yourself?"
"NO!"
"Ah. Dodgy little dream, eh?" My face flushes red, but I don't say anything. "About Shane! Wow, this just gets better and better!"
"IT WASN'T ABOUT SHANE!" I snap. I'm aware I sound like a five-year-old having a tantrum, but dammit I'm sick of everyone in this flat always being right!
"Then who was it about?" Damn. He's got me there. "See? It was about Shane. I was right!" He grins, smug. "We Beveridges are always right!"
"Right. Whatever." The kettle finishes boiling, and I take this opportunity to quickly leave the room, slipping into the front room practically unnoticed. I drop onto the sofa next to Luke, and see Barrone smirking from the other end of the room, sitting in his computer chair as he types away furiously. He glances to the side for a moment to grin knowingly at me, and my face flushes an even deeper shade of red as I scowl at my Timid.
"Kee!" Laurence shouts through from the kitchen. "When's band practise?"
"1-ish or something, I think." Kier calls back through. I glance over at Shane again to see he's chuckling to himself as he types, and I practically bolt across the room as I realise what he's doing. As I approach the computer I can see the black-and-grey theme of our website, and recognise a video I posted of one of Kier's USA vlog's in a blog I wrote not too long ago...
