I was standing outside my house as the limo drove into the driveway. The school said they were sending a car to pick up each of the students to go to the airport.

Oh god I hate planes.

I turned around to see a tear-stained Gran.

"Gran, I don't have to go if..."

She cut me off, "No Natalia. I'm so happy for you. This is a fresh start for you. I want you to do this. Plus, you will visit me for the holidays. But first, I have a gift for you." She then pulled out a brand new macbook pro. "I learned how to use the skype so if you can chat me. The school said its fine for you to use it. Do you like it?"

I was shocked, Gran said computers weren't necessary for a 'young lady'. I gave her a big hug," I'm going to miss you Gran. I love you."

"I love you too Natalia, see you soon."

I hauled my suitcases into the overhead compartments of the private jet.

First a limo and now this, wow what a rich school.

The flight attendant from the school informed me that there would be one other girl from the school that was riding there with me. They said her name was Ashton.

I plopped down in my chain and pulled out my iPod. I tapped my feet to Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson. Gotta love this song. (A.N: this is one of my faveeeee songs. Check it out!!!)

My head was so lost in my music that I didn't know someone had sat down next to me until she gently tapped my shoulder.

I flinched, as I didn't like to be touched, and took out my headphones.

"You must be Natalia. I'm Ashton Beckingham. Nice to meet you." She held out her hand for me to shake. I took it hesitantly; my almost-white colored hand looked so weird against her perfectly tan one. She had blond hair, a slim but slightly curvy figure, looked about 5'3, which was a few inches shorter than me, and the brightest green eyes I had ever seen.

She looked the exact opposite of me, due to the fact that I have dark brown hair, a slim figure (that seemed to be the only thing we had in common) with a little more curves, and piercing blue eyes.

"Um hi. Ya I'm Natalia. Nice to meet you too," I said awkwardly. She seemed nice, but she didn't seem like someone who would hang out with, or even talk to someone like me. I was an outsider, sometimes I was called a loser, but she seemed like a super popular girl who everyone liked.

"So are you excited to start the school year? I am," she grinned, obviously trying to start a conversation.

'Of course you are,' I thought, 'because everyone is gonna LOVE you. Not me.'

"Sure I guess. I'm not the biggest fan of school and..." I shut my mouth. Something about her made me want to trust her, but I wasn't going to fall for it.

It was only an act.

"And what?" she pressed. Why couldn't I keep my big mouth shut?

"Social stuff I guess," I shrugged as casually as I could.

I started listening to my iPod again and Ashton pulled out a book.

About an hour and a half later, the flight attendant, who's name I found out was Mindy, came by with two slips of paper.

"Here girls," she said kindly," this paper has your dorm number, roommate, and a map of the school on the back. Your schedules will be in your rooms at the school. We will be arriving there in about thirty minutes." She walked back up the isle with a nod in our direction.

I looked at Ashton and then the slip of paper.

Under 'Roommate', was a name that filled me with a mix of fear, agony, releaf, but most of all, shock.

Ashton Beckingham
