Ashton slammed the door of my guest room, her tanned figure shivering slightly from the cold.
I flopped down on my guest bed, pulling the covers over me. I was cold as well.
We looked at each other for a while, neither saying a word.
Finally, blondie spoke, the soft and kind tone of her voice surprising me, "Thanks. That guy was so far fetched. You put him in his place. Now it's up to Satan."
I sighed, "I can't... I did... I'm a murder Ashton." The word felt like poison in my mouth. It hurt to say. The scariest part though, was that I didn't fully regret it. He deserved it, he was going to die fighting us anyway in the long run.
"Were you close with him? Or your parents?" I asked.
Ashton shook her head, "I don't know why they invited him. He's an ex-boyfriend. I don't even know if my parents really invited him. My friend Mark said that he came with him. My parents heard, and they aren't upset. Don't worry Natalia, it's fine." She kept blabbing like an idiot.
I groaned, "I still feel horrible. I actually killed someone! What is Rhea going to say?"
Ashton laughed, causing me to cross my arms over my chest with a humph. How could she be so calm about this?!
"I already called Rhea. She is so proud of you. It's really funny she was cheering over the phone," Ashton said after recovering from her laughing fit.
"How are you guys so calm about this?" I exclaimed, throwing my arms up in the air.
Ashton's face turned serious, "Because it's bound to happen. My grandmother used to say that to be a leader, you have to do anything to keep your people safe. Anything. And that's just what you did. He was going to end up fighting against us anyway."
"That's exactly what I was thinking, but I don't know." My gut was telling me it was ok, and so was my heart, but my head was simply pounding.
"Ashton I'm really tired I think I'm going to get some sleep," I said, laying down. As if on cue, a yawn escaped.
She laughed, "Ok gloomy girl, goodnight."
I chuckled, shutting my tired eyes, "Goodnight Ashton."

I opened my eyes to sun streaming through the beige curtains of my guest room. I walked to the window, and my breath caught in my throat.
I was snowing.
Small flakes were falling, and there was at least four inches already on the ground.
It was absolutely gorgeous. Gorgeous.
How could I have missed this my whole life? Snow. I could stare at it all day.
But of course, my hosts had other ideas.
Ashton and Anna stormed into my room three minutes after I got up, both wearing matching shades of sky blue with dark skinny jeans. The only difference between them was that Ashton had bright green eyes and Anna had brown. This made Ashton look a lot younger, like she should.
Anna pulled me into a hug, "Good morning Natalia! How are you feeling?"
"Fine, I was just about to get dressed."
Ashton squealed, "Great! Then we are going shopping while Daddy goes with Thomas to get the Christmas tree! Rhea is coming here in two days, so that means we have to shop today, and decorate tomorrow. Sound good?"
I shrugged, I guess I could use a few things at the mall, "Do our gifted credit cards work here?"
Ashton nodded, "Ya. Oh and by the way, dress like us so we can all match. Plus it will look good against the snow. You have two hours before we leave for breakfast, since it's seven o'clock. We are going to Starbucks. You can go see the snow if you want. Have you ever seen snow Natalia?"
