Vincent grabbed me around the waistband pulled me back.
"Get away from there! You're goin to fall!"
"Scabior..." I pointed to the remains of the covered bridge. He cupped my chain in his hands.
"I know, love, I saw, but remember what you told me: don't get carried away by your emotions." He used his tumb to wipe away a couple tears. I closed my eyes and swollowed a few times. I needed to channel all of my sadness into anger. It would make me fight better. I had to stop crying and pull myself together.
I opened my eyes back up and lifted my hand to touch his. When I did, I saw an extra ring on my finger; one shapes like a stags head.
"I-I.. How did this get there?" I questioned, stepping away from him and examining it. I took it off and saw a large, cursive S engraved on the inside. "This is Scabior's."
"Looks like it was enchanted with a Heir Charm." Draco said behind us. "All if my fathers rings are. When the owner dies, it instantly goes to the inheritor."
"So that means he really is..." I trailed off, looking back down at the ground. Vincent tugged on my hand.
"Come on, Elle, you have to be strong. We have to go."
"Yeah." I shook my head, hoping to shake away my feelings with it. "We still need to get to higher ground." I willed my voice to be gruff and authoritative. Seeming fine angry was the only way I could hid my emotions.
"There's the Astronomy Tower." Gregory reminded. "That is, if the bridge is still there."
"It's worth a shot." Vincent looked at me. "Right?"
"Yeah, lets go, and hurry." I pivoted and retraced our steps. We had to go up another hallway and then another. After a few more we were back into the ruckus of the battle. Spells were flying everywhere. I started to work my way through when Gregory stopped us.
"Look!" He pointed through the chaos. We all glanced over just in time to see Potter and his two friends rush into a room. Vincent's face immediately hardened.
"Potter..." He breathed, disgust in his voice. I knew he blamed Potter for Wyatt's death and wanted revenge. "We have to go after them!" He said a little louder.
"Agreed." Draco nodded.
"Lets go!" Gregory ran towards the door. We all followed, but Vince stopped me before I could go in.
"No. It's too dangerous. You're not going in!" He used a tone so stern that it made me step back. I knew he meant business.
"Vince..."
"No, I'll go in and get Potter, then the Dark Lord will reward is handsomely."
"Fine. Just promise me that you will be careful and that you will not kill him. Just capture him, and hand him over."
"I promise." He kissed me. "I love you."
"I shouted before he closed the door. Once it was closed I turned around and scanned the fighting going on around me. Behind everything I noticed a small framed boy with blond hair trying to sneak by unnoticed. I pushed my way around people to sneak up behind him.
"And who is this?" I questioned. He whipped around, startled. I raised my wand, as did he.
"Stupefy-" he started, but I beat him to it.
"Expeliarmus!" I shouted. His want flew from his hand and landed I to the middle of the madness behind us. His eyes widened as I cornered him. "Now I'll ask again; who are you?"
