Chapter 19:
"Your welcome." Josh smirked in a devilish way jumping on the bed and laying down with his hands behind his head.
"Your ego is intolerable." I laughed throwing a pillow at his face he flailed around a bit attempting to knock it away but failed miserably. I rolled my eyes laughing and pulled my feet under me. I followed the pattern of the bed spread carefully as my laughter faded into silence. I listened closely for the steady breaths that Josh took as he followed my finger with his eyes in the circles and turns of the intricate paths of the stitch work.
"What are you thinking about?" He suddenly asked me. I lost focus in my previous activity and my finger faltered off the trail as my line of sight cast up upon Josh.
"What?" Was all I managed to say starring into his deeply curious eyes.
"What are you thinking about?" He repeated without further explanation.
"Tomorrow, I suppose."
"What's tomorrow?"
"What hasn't happened yet." I simply answered laying down and using my arms as a pillow.
"Don't do that." Josh retorted in a way. I moved my chin to look at him furrowing my eyebrows but he seemed not all together there as he starred blankly at the wall.
"Why ever not?" I wondered.
"The vision in your head of what your life will be like will always without a doubt mess up the reality of what does happen and life will end up a huge disappointment."
"Your one to talk." I scoffed at him "you have everything, you live in a dream cloud."
"Excuse me?"
"Your life is perfect, your a 20 year old movie actor living his dream in a fancy house with a loving family, your completely put together. Anything you want in life you probably have enough money to buy."
"It's not all about that though, you know how hard I had to work to get here." He defended himself quickly.
"At least people believed in you."
"How would you know that?" He shot back frustrated.
"If no one believed in you, I highly doubt you'd be here. You wouldn't have made it. If no one believed in you your mom would've brought you back to Kentucky when you were ten." I sat up my eyes narrowed in annoyance.
"Then we wouldn't have ever met, and you would most likely wouldn't have survived on the streets." Josh reminded me doing a stellar job of keeping his cool whereas it was slowly slipping from my grasp as the conversation escalated rather quickly.
"Yeah, I'd be dead in a ditch somewhere, so thank you Lord Jesus for granting me salvation." I gave a bow mocking him before getting up off the bed and walking from the room without a second thought. A thought that I had down the hall when I realized I didn't have a key to my room with Michelle. I sighed and buttoned up my big sweater tip toeing down to the pool room I walked in and sat in one of the chairs. It was deserted and I sat and listened to the sound of the pool filters as the smell of chlorine slowly gave me a headache. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I reached for it and was greeted by a brief but demanding text from Josh.
'Where are you?' I repeated it in a squeaky immature voice before typing 'hell' and sending it.
"Or the pool." I heard Josh's voice a few feet away moments after I sent the text. I said nothing and only starred at my phone as if I were alone in the room. "Charlotte, why did you get so upset? I don't want to fight." Josh tried to reason with me. My eyelids drooped out of my cocky face I used when ignoring people and I sighed close to replying when I accidentally sucked in a breath quickly and choked on it. Josh reached for my hand to comfort me but I yanked it away and clicked off my phone placing it on the small pool table to my right and regained composure.
Josh reached again, another failed attempt, I jerked away standing this time. Josh smirked at me almost making me laugh but I kept my snooty face high as I maintained a distance between the two of us. "Come here." Josh didn't give up easily lunging at me. I squeaked and ran for it making a lap around the edge of the pool before I fatally slipped up and felt my weight shift backwards as I toppled to the floor, I prepared for impact of the stone on my skull but was caught when it all seemed hopeless by Josh who couldn't keep upright either so he smoothly shifted his weight to the right bringing us both down into the pool.
We both plunged under and were immersed, Josh regained himself immediately but I needed a moment to realize what had happened and he took that moment to seize my arm and pull me to the surface.
"That's the second time you've saved me." I whispered catching my breath slowly.
"I'm sorry, I know life isn't easy for you and it's nice to think about tomorrow, just don't get carried away because I want to be able to fulfill your expectations, I am not prepared to loose you Charlotte." Josh explained his position pleadingly.
"I'm sorry too." I wrapped my arms around his neck tightly and placed my chin on his shoulder.
"Why?"
"I guess I'm just a bitch." I laughed squeezing my eyes shut in attempt to stop time, because at that moment I wasn't ready for tomorrow either.
Today was enough.
As I was focusing on the freezing of time I felt the warmth of Josh's body leave me and I knew it hadn't worked and before I could let that sink in I felt a splash of water on me.
"What?" I sputtered my eyes flying open and I was greeted with another splash. I retaliated splashing back aimlessly and smacking the water frantically due to the fact that I did not know where Josh was and I wasn't opening my eyes in these conditions. I soon grabbed a white corner of my sweater and held it up. "I surrender." I shouted. The water suddenly stopped flying at me and I was once again in Josh's arms.
"Do I need to punish the loser." He whispered in my ear sending shivers down my spine.
"I'm good with a time out." My voice cracked as I attempted to speak with half my nerve endings disturbed by Josh's seductive manner.
"How about I just let you off with a warning this time." He 'bargained' and laughed showing me his gorgeous smile and he carried me out of the pool and back to the room like a princess swiping my phone from the table on the way out. Once in the hotel room I quickly showered and unprepared to return to my damp clothes I stole a faded red v neck and boxers from Josh. Throwing on a pair of sunglasses I found next to the sink I strutted out of the bathroom.
"How do I look?" I posed laughing. Josh joined the laughter and lifted me.
"Beautiful." I was laid down under the covers of a bed after that and Josh removed the sunglasses from my face and placed them on the bedside table.
"Are you going to cuddle with me?" I asked hopefully looking up at him, he had changed and dried while I showered he had on checkered sweat pants and a shirt similar to what I had on.
"Do you want me to?"
"Yes." I smiled nodding tiredly. Josh got in next to me and wrapped his arms protectively around me I turned into him and nuzzled my face against his chest before I was no longer awake.
I am so sorry this chapter took so long! I has truly been agess! But I hope you liked it vote/comment/fan.
