Chapter 29:
I groaned and peeled my eyes open, I was lying in my old bed at Josh's. Old memories assaulted me and it took me a moment to stabilize myself. I laid in bed staring at the ceiling. I remembered that situation when Connor attempted to kiss me in this bed. Laughing to myself I rolled to the side to check my phone, there was an abundance of missed calls. Unlocking my phone I returned the call of my first priority. It rang twice before an exasperated Connor answered.
"You left?" He yelled.
"Connor it's early, quiet down." I calmed him "I'm sorry I left so suddenly, I really hadn't planned on it, but I missed dear Joshua." I giggled.
"Next time give me a heads up that your leaving."
"Okay, I promise."
"Are you going to keep up with your school work online while your away?" He asked sounding like a concerned parent.
"Yes." I rolled my eyes.
"Good, well have fun. I have to go, I'll call you later."
"Okay bye." I hung up and dialed the second number that had bombarded me with phone calls last night.
"Charlotte!" Brendan picked up immediately.
"Yes." I waited expectantly.
"You left." He sounded almost hurt.
"I did."
"Why didn't you tell me?" He was taking this worse than Connor.
"I didn't even tell Josh."
"Oh, well I was just checking to see if you were okay." He simmered a bit, the thought occurred to me that he was under the impression that there was something between us that there was not.
"Thank you, I have to go now." I lied to get off the phone.
"Bye doll face." He used Connor's nickname for me actually irritating me slightly. Without responding I hung up the phone I knew he was a shameless player and I had zero intention of giving him any small glimmer of hope. I ventured downstairs, Josh was not in the kitchen yet, I sauntered over to the coffee machine and made myself some coffee. I plopped down in a chair and sipped my coffee, Josh had made no appearance while I slowly drank my coffee. Sighing I put my cup in the sink and checked the time, it was past ten there was no way he was still asleep. I tip toed back up the stairs and down the hall to his bedroom. The thought occured to me that I had never actually been in his bedroom, hesitantly I knocked, when I heard no answer I cracked the door open and stuck my head in. He looked as though he was sleeping so I decided to go wait downstairs until something above him caught my eye. On a bookshelf above his head there was a picture of the two of us in a shining silver frame. Gingerly I opened the door so that I may slip in, once inside I slid quitely up to his bed and reached over him to get the picture frame. There was suddeny a hand on my waist and I felt myself being flipped and landed on Josh's sheets with a huff.
"Goodmoring sweetheart." He smirked at me as my cheeks flamed with embarrassment, "you've never been in here have you?" He seemed amused.
"No." I squeaked unable to hide my embaressment for he had my hands pinned above my head. "It's a very nice room." I complimented shyly.
"I'm glad you think so." He grinned ear to ear letting my hands loose. They instinctivly wrapped around his neck tugging slightly urging him to kiss me. Taking the hint and wasting no time he pressed his lips against mine, I kissed him back immediately. It was beautiful how our lips fit together those two pieces of a seatbelt. I say to avoid being cliche with the puzzle piece line, you're welcome. Our lips moved together slowly at first but we sped up and became more passionate, he never made a move to deepen the kiss so I did teasingly dragging my tongue across his lip. He responded immediately and stongly not letting up until niether of us could breath and we pulled appart.
"I'm hungry." I laughed pushed his chest up so I could wiggle free, laughing he grabbed my waist and lifted me like a child as he stood up. I wrapped my legs around him as his other hand gripped my thigh to support me. He carried my downstairs and into the kitchen.
"Do you want panncakes?" He offered winking at me.
"Yes!" I burst out hopping down. I jumped up onto the counter in the kitchen. "I'm ready to cook." I declared grinning at Josh.
"I thought we could just order in." He scratched the back of his neck looking towards me hopefully, I could tell he was feeling lazy however I wanted to make pancakes so I would not be letting him off easily with this one.
"Well you probably also thought you would fall in love with someone your own age but here I am in your kitchen so make pancakes with me." I ordered directing him to come to where I was sitting on the counter. Josh smirked at me dropping his hand from his neck and walked to the counter where I was and stood in between my legs.
"I guess you win," he smiled sweetly at me "but I was bound to give in, I could never deny my princess anything." He cupped my face in his hand as I blushed wildly staring into my lap resisting from meeting his eyes.
"I know." I looked up smiling evilly, quickly pecking his lips I dropped off the counter and out of his grip. I began opening cabinets until I found a bowl. I explored all the cabinets until I had collected all my ingredients, flour, sugar, eggs, milk, butter and baking powder.
"That was mean what you just did." Josh finally commented as I had been working around him. I turned to him unable to hid my smile, I slid back into his space and wrapped my arms around his torso, being in Josh's arms gave me a sense of safety I had never felt with anyone else, I still felt the same tingles I had when we first met shoot through me every time we touched and I relished in his touch, but these were the things I kept to myself. They were just little things that didn't need to expressed but were just relevant to me and I was in love with them.
"I'm sorry." I looked up at him through my eyelashes. Tucking my hair behind my ear he stared down at me with love in his eyes.
"I'll forgive you." He kissed my forehead.
"I knew you would, now help me make pancakes." I took his hand and led him into the kitchen.
"Okay." He followed me willingly smirking devilishly. I brushed it off and began searching for a measuring cup, after I found one I shut the cabinet and stood up to be faced with a puff of flour in the face.
"What was that for?" I whined as flour flew off me and made a mess.
"Nothing." He winked leaning against the counter.
"You're a jerk." I laughed reaching for some flour and throwing it in his face.
"You know you're going to have to pay for that." Josh threatened grabbing my waist and holding me to him as I tried to escape.
"Josh stop!" I playfully cried out as he covered me in flour, it was all through my hair and on my clothes. I managed to finally turn myself to face him once I had succeeded in doing this I began aimlessly throwing flour into him. "okay stop! I know you're going to want me to clean this up so let's not make that big of a mess!" I laughed grabbing his arm that wasn't around my waist and trying my best to restrain him.
"Alright baby as long as you do clean up." I blushed averting my gaze to the ground, he had never called me baby and I felt like I was floating on a cloud until he laid a messy playful kiss on me.
"Jesus Josh." I laughed wiping my mouth from his slobbery dog kiss, "we are not lady and the tramp." he only smiled looking up at me obviously amused as he released me and washed his hands. "I still want pancakes so why don't you go wait somewhere else because you are zero help." I sent him away pointing to the door. He laughed still really amused and left me in peace to make breakfast without any more interruptions from anyone anywhere. Josh had successfully shut out the rest of the world with curtains and shades and for the first time we were actually alone and happy, despite the fact that I was covered in flour and was going to have to take a ten hour long shower to get rid of all of it, I have never been so content in my life.
