It was half past one by the time randhir left her office. The moment he left she curled up in a fetal position on the floor, hiding her face and cried a little, the thing that hurt her was randhir still couldn't remember her! He was the only one she loved ever since after her birth. It's not even her mom or dad. It's randhir, but irony was that he forgot her.
"Fine randhir, I think I have waited bit too long. You just need some tinkering and I'll do that straight away" she said to herself as she got to her feet, wiping her tears. As she stood up she found her mobile vibrating, she grabbed it and the screen flashed a message from randhir, she clicked it open.
It read "enjoy your last day as virgin darlings... see you in my bed tomorrow night" sanyukta read that message and a smirk appeared on her face. "You shouldn't have given me a day time randhir...! Now see what happens. You gave me a day and now I'll lock you for whole life" she said to herself. She swiped the screen to menu. She dailed raghu's number and summoned her inside her cabin.
By the time raghu walked in her cabin, sanyukta was pacing back and forth furiously, fiddling her mobile. Raghu had no knowledge about what that happened between randhir and sanyukta, he wasn't even interested in knowing because he was sure that sanyukta could handle things for herself but still he was concerned about her "are you okay sanyukta?" raghu asked as he rushed inside her cabin.
"I can't accept this defeat!" she looked at him and shook her head vigoursly
"sanyukta" he narrowed his eyes in askance
"I can't accept this defeat!" she reiterated.
"sanyuktaaaa!" raghu held her shoulders and shook her hard that she collapsed in his arms, crying, they were now on floor,
"What? What happened sanyukta?" he asked trying to calm her down. She cried for a moment and said "I can't accept this defeat!"
"Ok. You don't have to. But stop crying first" he made her sit in her chair and handed her a glass of water, she glugged it in a go and cried a little more to sleep.
It was three in the morning by the time sanyukta woke up and found raghu sleeping in her couch "raghu" she said groggily
"Hmm" he stretched his arms and jostled his lashes up at her
"Do you trust me?" she asked innocently. With her words Raghu's sleep vanished why this girl never fails to stagger me—he thought and sat straight in the couch."Of course yes!" he said confidently
"Then I don't want to accept this failure" she said. There was a momentary silence after which raghu spoke "what's the plan?" he asked as if he read her face. She stood up and walked to the couch, she sat down on the floor facing raghu
"The site, dadi bought for me. The very first one. Back at shimla. Remember?" she asked raghu nodded thoughtfully "what if we sell it?"
"But we have leased it for ten years and there are 5 more years left" raghu said.
"Point" Sanyukta drooped. There was silence for a moment after which raghu spoke
"What if we sell my land?" raghu said.
"Your land?"Sanyukta widened her orbs as she listened to him
"Yes. Remember that old withered house I used to live in back at shimla" he asked, sanyukta nodded as if she remembered that "but raghu" she tried to interrupt but raghu was in no mood to listen to her cause he knew she wouldn't accept his proposal
"You gifted me life sanyukta. You think I can't do this for you?" he said and there were tears in her eyes now. "Chin up. We're not going to accept this defeat" he said wiping her tears.
When raghu said that he'd sell his land, sanyukta agreed hesitatingly. The next moment sanyukta made a dozen calls to the bankers and investors requesting them a month more time for completing their projects and hopefully they agreed. Sanyukta, after making calls, looked at raghu and nodded, raghu blinked at her reassuringly and left.
It was 5 in the morning by the time raghu left for shimla, and sanyukta was busy with urgent meetings held with the contractors, investors and bankers. However time flew, there wasn't a call, either from raghu, or from randhir for the whole day. Sanyukta was working for the past 15 hours restlessly not even eating food. It was seven in the evening by the time sanyukta was all free as the meetings concluded and every one had left. Raghu still hadn't called. Once every one had left sanyukta fished out her mobile and found a couple of missed calls from randhir and her breathe went uneven instantly. She swiped across the screen, opened a blank message, typed a text and sent to him. The text read —9 pm. at my apartment, will be waiting in my bedroom —
In turn came a smirking emoticon. Sanyukta sighed and checked her watch. It was half past seven in the evening. She breathed in sharply and left for her flat.
With every forward moment the second's hand of clock made, sanyukta found her heart thumping dangerously hard. No matter how hard she tried to regularize her breathes, she continued to breathe uneven. She doesn't know what actually she was feeling. Was she excited? Was she scared? Whatever it was, she wished everything goes well and her plan works out. She took a long shower, longer than the usual. But was confused what to wear. She was never in such a situation and wondered what it would be like, however after a hour long mulling over it, standing in front of her closet, wrapped in the long white turkey towel, she finally decided to wear a tank top and a pair of shorts. She left her hair open. Once after getting ready, she tidied her room a bit and waited for randhir to show up.
All the while there was a tornado of thoughts and emotions in her head and continuous noises of which she probably couldn't figure out. There was a feeling of tight knot in the pit of her stomach. She felt like she'd die waiting for randhir. However at 8 50 pm sanyukta, from the huge glass pane behind her bed, saw the same black Bentley pulling into her compound and breathe struck in her throat.
