I tried to pay attention in my last class, but a certain person wouldn't let me. We got a new kid today. He has tattoos all over his arms and looks like he's up to no good. He keeps kicking my desk. I got in trouble once for telling him to stop. I haven't said anything else, because I'm afraid of getting detention.
"Not gonna turn around?" He whispered from behind me. I ignored him and stared at the chalkboard. "Come on. I dare you." He teased.
"Fuck off." I muttered under my breath, but I knew he heard. I completely lost it when he put his hand on my shoulder and popped my bra strap. I turned around and slapped him immediately.
"Miss Hayden! Detention! You too, Mister Byrd!" The angry teacher yelled. The new kid smirked at me and leaned back in his seat, quite happy with his accomplishment.
He left me alone the rest of class. When the bell rang, I grabbed my textbook and quickly left. I put it in my locker. I slammed it shut and almost had a heart attack when I saw who was on the other side.
"The name's JT." He said.
"Great." I mumbled and walked toward the detention hall.
"What about you?" He asked me.
"You don't need to know my name. I promise." I stated flatly.
"So I'll have to call your hot girl, I guess." He chuckled.
"Listen, JT," I snapped, "I'm engaged. You can stop flirting."
"Engaged?" He raised an eyebrow at me and noticed the ring on my left hand. "Aren't you like eighteen?"
"Seventeen, thank you very much. And yes, I'm engaged. Now will you go away? You've done enough already." I crossed my arms as we stood at the door for the detention hall.
"I can't go away. We have detention together." He smirked and opened the door for me. I rolled my eyes and went in. I sat in the corner of the room. Of course, he sat next to me. The teacher wasn't even in here. "So engaged to who?"
"Louis Tomlinson." I said.
"One Direction guy, eh? And, yes, I know who that is. My little sister is a huge fan." He replied. "So you're the girl that my sister hates."
"Pardon?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"She hates you. She says you're too young for that guy and using him for his money." He said simply.
"I think you've fucked up my day enough. Go away. Now." I said through clenched teeth.
"Or what, princess?" He smirked.
"Leave her alone, you little bitch." A different voice said. I looked up and saw an unfamiliar face. JT stood up, a good four inches shorter than this stranger guy.
"H-Hey, I didn't mean for any trouble." JT said, obviously intimidated by this tall stranger. He quickly went to the other side of the room.
"Thanks... What's your name?" I inquired.
"Nathan. What about you?" He asked, sitting down in the desk that JT was in.
"Alex." I smiled. Nathan was tall and muscular. He obviously works out. "So are you new?"
"Yeah, I just came here today. Who's that punk?" He gestured to JT.
"He's a new kid too." I scoffed. "He kept aggravating me in class until I turned around and slapped him. Now we both have detention."
"That sucks." He frowned. "I was in the hall without a pass because I kinda got lost."
"What the hell? It's your first day. They couldn't give you a break?" I questioned. "That's stupid."
"Yeah, I know. I just moved in with my mom. My parents are divorced." He told me.
"Mine too. But my dad remarried." I replied, finding something we had in common.
"My dad just stopped caring about us three months ago. We don't know where he is." He said, looking down at his hands. I could tell that he was the kind of guy that looked tough, but was very emotional on the inside.
"My mom left us when I was nine months old." I said quietly. "At least you remember your dad."
"Yeah, maybe that's not such a good thing." He mumbled. "Any siblings?"
"Yep." I nodded. "Two older sisters and an older brother. You?"
"A younger sister." He answered. "I just got out of a relationship. My ex said I didn't give her enough attention."
"It's her loss." I told him. "You seem like a nice guy. So where do you live?"
"South side of Lakewood." He replied.
"Oh, me too. What street?" I inquired.
"Freeman Road. You?" He questioned,
"Emerson Drive. I'm like three minutes from you, walking." I laughed. "That's cool, though. We'll have to hang out sometime."
"Yeah, I could use a new friend." He chuckled.
"Have you made any?" I inquired.
"Yeah, but just two guys. Marcus West and John Fray. You know them?" He questioned.
"I know of them, but I don't personally know them. Have you met Ryan yet?" I asked. Marcus and John both play baseball and are pretty good, from what I've heard.
"Unfortunately." He nodded. "He's a pretty boy. That's all."
"He's a prick." I chuckled.
"Yeah, I figured that much." He agreed. "You play any sports?"
"I'm a cheerleader. I play softball, basketball, and I ran track and played volleyball last year. I dropped them both because my grades stared going down. So this year I do cheer, basketball, and softball." I replied.
"Nice. I do football (American), baseball, track, and wrestling. Cheerleading isn't really my thing." He chuckled. I laughed too.
"Why not basketball? You're pretty tall." I questioned.
"I just don't like it that much." He shrugged.
"That's cool, I guess." I laughed. "I was supposed to have basketball practice today, but now I'm stuck in detention."
"That sucks." He chuckled. I nodded in agreement. I pulled my phone out of my purse and turned it on. I keep it off during school so I won't get caught with it. I had a couple texts.
'From: Chandlahhh
DETENTION?!?! Rebel child.'
I laughed and went to the next message.
'From: Jessieee
HOW DARE YOU MISS BASKETBALL PRACTICE?!?!'
The next one was from Louis.
'From: Louis(:
Hope you had a good day at school love :) wanna do something later? xx'
I texted him back.
'To: Louis(:
I'm stuck in detention lol. So I'm not going to practice. I'll be home an hour earlier tho! Sure, that sounds great as long as I don't have to wear shoes. xx'
The teacher walked into the room just as I put my phone in my pocket. I quickly turned it off so it wouldn't make any noise.
"No talking!" She yelled.
Fun.
