"I'm Alex." I said to the smirking boy.
"I thought it was Alexandria?" He asked. I shrugged. "So what do I call you then?"
"I'll answer to anything." I chuckled. The adults, including Hannah, had gone into the office for 'business' as they called it.
"What about gorgeous?" He winked.
"I don't get that one too much." I tried to hide my slight blush. I wasn't used to being winked at or called pretty, much less gorgeous.
"Well, you should." He replied.
"So why exactly is your family here? You're in One Direction, right?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Not quite sure, love. But I'm glad I got to meet you." He answered.
"Flattering gets you nowhere, Tomlinson." I told him.
"Doesn't hurt to try, Hayden." He mimicked me. I sat down on the sofa, trying to figure out what I thought about this boy. "So is your boyfriend out of town or something?"
"You're terrible at being subtle." I stifled my laughter. He sheepishly shrugged. "I recall reading that the curly haired one was the flirt." I said skeptically.
"Eh, the tabloids don't really know us." He replied. I nodded, understanding now.
"So why would your parents drag you along to a business meeting?" I questioned. I'm about to get to the bottom of this. He shrugged, something we both do a lot. "This doesn't make sense."
"Life doesn't make sense." He shot back. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Lets play a game!" He said, not really giving me a choice. "I say two things, and you say which one you like better without hesitation."
"Okay, I'm game." I agreed.
"Drake or Nicki Minaj?"
Easy question. "Drake."
"Blue or pink?"
This is way to easy. "Blue."
"Tea or coffee?"
Is this all he's got? "Coffee."
"Justin Bieber or Louis Tomlinson?"
A four-year-old could answer that! "Justin Bieber."
"Hurtful!" He retorted jokingly. "Hug of kiss?"
Hm, I've never kissed anybody soooo... "Hug."
"Dog or cat?"
And we're back to the little kid questions. "Dog."
"And that's all the time we have today! We'll see you next week!" He said in an announcer voice. I rolled my eyes.
"You ask questions that a little kid could answer." I told him.
"Doesn't that mean you have the IQ of a little kid?" He asked.
"No, that means you ask questions like a little kid." I answered nonchalantly.
"But aren't you younger than me?" He reminded me.
"How old are you?" I answered his question with a question.
"Twenty. I'll be twenty-one on Christmas Eve." He said proudly.
"Dude, I'm gonna be eighteen on December twelfth. You aren't that much older." I pointed out.
"Three years! I can legally drink in the states next month!" He grinned victoriously. I rolled my eyes. He smiled wider, knowing he won.
"You'll die first." I mumbled.
"I've lived longer!" He cheerfully chirped. I rolled my eyes once again and started ignoring him. "Come on, Alex! Don't ignore me!" He whined, nudging me in the ribs.
"I see you two are getting along well." My Dad's deep voice interrupted his complaining and my silence.
"Uh, yeah. I guess." I replied.
"We're bestest friends!" Louis chirped, slinging his arm around my shoulder. I stepped away. I saw his mom wink at his dad. Well then.
"No, I don't think so." I shook my head. Dad frowned at me. I shrugged as a reply.
"So..." Louis broke the awkward silence.
"Dinner is ready." Our chef came into the room and announced. Yay, no more awkward conversations. We all filed into the dining room and I saw our table had assigned seats. This is...unusual. I found mine which was between Louis and his mom.
"So, Alexandria, are you interested in going to college?" Mark asked me.
"I think I want to be a physical therapist or pediatrician." I replied honestly. "Oh, and you can call me Alex." I added.
"I was in the medical field too." Jay said from beside me. "Then Louis got rich and started sending us half of his paycheck, so I don't have to work."
"Oh, that's nice." I said, not sure what else to say. We awkwardly ate in an awkward silence.
"And how old are you, Alex?" Jay asked me.
"I'll be eighteen next month." I answered.
"Louis is turning twenty-one next month. What a coincidence!" Mark joined the conversation. I glanced over at Louis who shot me an apologetic look. Aw, was he embarrassed by his parents?
'Don't worry,' I thought in my head, 'my dad can be embarrassing.'
