A/N: Have a picture of Mika and Yuu with cat ears. And some crack. The last one killed me. And yes, based off of Kiera Cass's series cause why not.

I didn't really want to enter. My mom made me. She said if I had any shot with the prince, I should take it.

I did not, however, feel the same way. What would a prince, a One, want with a Five like me. I sighed as I filled the form out. It made me queasy, those thoughts. I could never be loved by a One. I would be gone the first day.

As I waited in the line to drop off my registration form, I still felt that way. No way was I even going to be chosen.

Two weeks later, however, when my name was called on the Capitol Report, aka national TV, my mother Shinya jumped up and started singing a song I probably shouldn't repeat. My dad Guren looked down at me and winked. Akane, bless her soul, came over and gave me a tight hug, and tried telling me a joke. It didn't help, but I smiled at her none the less. My other sister, Shinoa, winked at me and waggled her eyebrows. I buried my head in my hands. Why did the greater powers hate me?

About a week and a blur of phone calls, advisers, and stylists came through my home, I was waving goodbye to my home and flying from the eastern coast to the west coast.

On my way, I met a brown haired boy with green eyes. He was really nice, and I was glad at least someone in this was going to be nice to me.

When we got there, we were rushed to two different stalls to get a makeover. I turned down pretty much all makeup and insisted they not dye my hair. The maids and butlers looked a little put out, but hey, those were my preferences.

When they asked me to choose a new outfit, I picked some dark skinny jeans, and a nice plush navy button thing. It had like three buttons at the top. I also chose some combat boots, much nicer than the ones I wore at home.

"The prince will now meet you all." The secretary said, giving us a heads up. "You will go in when I call you."

"Yoichi Saotome." The secretary called, and that nice boy went. In the meantime, I noticed there were girls and boys in this competition. I knew then that I had less of a chance right then of making it though the first day. She called 5 more names before mine.

"Yuichiro Hyakuya." She called, smiling as I took an awkward step forward, the door opened, and I didn't see anyone inside at first.

"Hello." A smooth voice said, I turned around, revealing Prince Mikaela Schreave. I bowed immediately. "There's no need for that." He said, I risked a peek at him, and he was motioning for me to stand up, so I did.

"Good afternoon?" I said, more of a question. I had no idea what time it was. At this, the prince laughed. I gave him a really confused and embarrassed look. "There were no clocks down there." I huffed, letting some of my irritation with it all leak out. He finally stopped, giving me a heart-stopping smile. God damn it. Stop making this hard and being so perfect.

"Yeah, it's the afternoon. What's your name? I'm horrible at remembering names." He asked lightly.

"Yuichiro Hyakuya." I said. He smiled wider.

"Yuu-chan then." He answered. I blushed furiously.

"Why such a childish nickname?" I asked, running a hand through my hair.

"It's an endearment, Yuu-chan, and you're the only one I've given one to so far." He explained, smirking more. I glared at him. Liar.

"Endearment my ass." I said, and immediately clamped a hand over my mouth, his eyes sparkled with amusement as he circled around me.
