You Make Me Okay

I surveyed the way the vampires ravaged everything in their paths. This was a simple battle. At least until the Moon Demon Company showed up. I looked everywhere for Yuu-chan. The last few weeks I'd dreamt of him so vividly it felt real. All I wanted was to see him again.

I spotted black hair, but the man it belonged to just attacked me. He had purple eyes. I blocked his attacks easily. I was scared at this point, that I'd never see him again.

"Human, do you know of a Yuichiro Hyakuya?" I asked as I let him rest. He brought his head up a little too quickly at the name. Bingo. He knew who and possibly where Yuu was.

"Yes." He answered, knowing I'd know if he lied from his earlier reaction. "Are you the Great Mikaela he would constantly get depressed over?" He asked me, using the nickname I'd used of myself in Sanguinem. So he knew Yuu close enough that Yuu told him these things.

I hesitated before answering. "Yes."

He smirked. "Then you're actually a vampire." I froze, but then how else could I have survived, it was the only way he could have.

"Yes." I replied, keeping my voice calm and steady.

"But you don't know, do you?" The human asked, his voice taking on an undercurrent of deep sadness. I paused at this, what could he mean?

"I don't know what?" I pressed. The human shook his head.

"Sorry kid, Yuu isn't here anymore." The human's voice broke on the isn't. I however, broke on sorry.

"Isn't here?" My voice broke for the first time.

"They took him, and a few weeks later, they gave me him, but he wasn't there." The human's voice was still breaking, again and again as he said this. I was being shattered as if I had been made of glass.

"What did they do?" I asked, the human's eyes seemed to war with itself at my question.

"Terrible things. I almost didn't recognize him." The human said shortly. I would not cry in front of this human.

"Where did you put him? I just wanted to see him one more time." The human looked me in the eyes, as if to discern whether or not I was telling the truth.

"Go to the park, wait for me there. I'll take you to him as soon as I take care of this." The human said plainly, and turned, walked away.

I did go to the park and waited, all the while in horrible agony. I just wanted to see him once more. To say all the apologies I wished I could say to him over the years. All the things I'd wanted to comment to him over my years of being a vampire. Of simply wanting to chat with him, and see him smile like he used to.

"I'm sorry, kid, took me long enough to drive your kind back." The human said from down the path, alerting me to his presence.

"Where is he?" I asked simply, keeping my eyes on my feet.

"This way." And off we went.

The human went inside a large building, and I followed him in. I could hear faint growls and rustles all around. That was unnerving.

"Prepare yourself, his friends are on duty today, so he might be more complacent." The man commented as they descended several flights of stairs. Friends? I'm glad he made friends, and that they care about him enough to still be there for him.

"Guren, is that you?" Called a girl's voice. Apparently Guren motioned for me to pause. I did, and waited.

"Yes, I have someone with me who Yuu might want to see." He said, indicating me as a purple haired girl stuck her head out a doorway.
