I heard a knock on the door and I walked over to it while buttoning up my shirt. I rolled up the sleeves and before I opened the door, I grabbed a simple jacket off the coat rack. I then opened the door to see the three of my only friends.
"Lookin' snazzy, Caption." Hervey said, softly hitting my shoulder while walking in. He had his brown hair tucked under a black beanie and wore a dark blue hoodie and some gray skinny jeans. He walked over to the couch and plopped down.
Kyle walked in after him, his redish hair was combed back; he had on a black leather jacket and under that was a white collared shirt, to 'tie it all together' he had on some black jeans. He walked in and punched me on the same shoulder and plopped down the couch next to Hervey.
The youngest of our small group, Rain, walked in and hugged me. She's only a year younger than me, (and two years younger than Hervey and Kyle), but she was way more mature than all of us combined. Her curly caramel colored hair was at shoulder length, she had on a red tee shirt and the same dark blue jeans she always seemed to wear,
"Hey, W, how are you?" She asked, pulling away from the hug.
I wanted to say, 'well I got kidnapped and beaten half to death and now I'm rebelling against Bruce and becoming an independent super hero, how are you?' But i just kept it simple, "I've been alright, how are you?" I asked, while we walked to the couch the other two where at.
"I've been really busy, my mom is making me go to all these weird places because she thinks we don't spend to much time together, so yeah, pretty busy." She forced a laughed and sat down. I sat down next to her and nodded.
I saw Hervey and Kyle exchange a few funny looks. Hervey scooted closer to me and handed me an aluminum can. I looked down at it and the label said 'A Mans Beer' I sighed and handed it back to him, I was going to say something witty and unnecessary like "Sorry dude, you can drink it, it clearly says a man's beer.' But I was to tired for that,
"Yeah, no way in hell you guys are getting drunk in at my house."
"Why not?" Kyle asked, handing me back the can.
"Because we are all underaged." I stated, setting down the beer on the coffee table.
"Kyle and I are 18," Hervey said sitting up and swiping the beer off the table, "we are legal adults."
I sighed, he was right. They are adults but they are still underage. I couldn't really do anything about it, if I said no they would probably do it anyways, "Fine. But i swear to God, if you break anything- you know what don't even touch anything."
"Hell yeah, oh and can you get up to turn on the tv? You said we can't touch anything." Kyle said, opening a can.
I got up and turned on the TV and grabbed the remote then sat back down next to Rain. I didn't even bother to touch one of those beers because I know Bruce would kill me. I sat back and put my feet up on the coffee table and put on one of those 80s alien moves with the really bad graphics.
The movie was over in 2 hours and in those 2 hours, Hervey and Kyle managed to drink 3 beers each, confessed their secret love for an actress that was in the movie and then pass out on my couch.
Both Rain and I stood up to stretch and then we decided to go outside and hang out while the other two slept. We walked out to the back balcony that over looked Gotham City. I leaned forward on the rail and she followed.
"You hear that Batman is back?" She said after a few seconds of silence.
"Nope, I don't really watch the news that much."
"Well he's back, he appeared twice, one time a few months ago when he saved some kid from a fiery death and a few nights ago when he stopped a bank robbery."
"Sounds exciting." I said sarcastically and laughed.
She playfully slapped my arm, "I bet it is. I wonder how exciting Batmans life must be." She said and looked at the glowing city.
The moon light seemed to make her dark skin glow. The city lights reflected off of her golden eyes. She was beautiful and everything was peaceful. I wish I could just stop time and make this one little moment last forever.
I let out a small sigh and looked at the glowing city,
"Everything alright?" She asked, looking at me with her golden orb like eyes.
"Nothing, just thinking about stuff."
She nodded and looked away but quickly looked back at me. She squinted her eyes and grabbed my face,
"When did you get stitches?" She asked, letting go of my face slightly blushing.
"Oh yeah, about those. I got into a fight and the guy took it a little to far." I lied and looked back at the city.
"Why didn't you tell us?" She asked
"I don't know, it never came up in a conversation so I just didn't mention it."
She chuckled and looked back at the city, "Its going to leave one hell of a scar."
I nodded and cracked a smile, "scars are pretty cool, it doesn't matter what kind of scars you got, it doesn't change you."
"Oh look at you being all poetic."
I rolled my eyes and laughed sarcastically, "yeah it's my new thing."
She laughed but then shivered,
"Its pretty cold." She said, rubbing her hands together.
"Really? I'm actually pretty hot," I took off my jacket and handed it to her, "you need it more than I do."
She put it on and smiled, "Thanks Warner."
I actually lied to her, I was freezing but I didn't want her to be cold. Before I got kicked out, my mom taught me to always respect women, no matter what age they are. 'If some girl you care for says she's cold, you give her your jacket and if you don't have a jacket, you better take the shirt off your back.' I heard my mom's voice say to me in my head.
"You're welcome, Rain." I said and we watched the city lights in silence.
