Everybody has secrets. Some are important and some aren't. You always want to share your secret with the person you love. Yet sometimes, even if you love someone –and that love is usually the kind of love you can't quite describe– you hide things. Why would you hide something from a person you love? But, why should that person know everything about you? You can share everything you want with yourself, there would be no judgements at all. There would be full trust. And that's why I believe secrets aren't a bad thing.
"It sucks, doesn't it?" I ask Ethan.
"I like it, it's...simple."
"I know you're trying not to laugh, Ethan. It sucks, just tell me."
"Babe, it's...I don't know. I don't like the ending. But, I do like the rest."
I sigh in annoyance –not because of Ethan, but because of me. I don't have a clue on what to write and it's due on monday. I told him I couldn't write in a day, but he insisted...and insisted, on me spending time with him and not doing my homework.
"Don't worry about it, the school year is almost about to finish, babe."
"That's why! I don't know, I'm exhausted." I groan, "I don't want you to finish high school. I'll miss you."
"Baby..." He sits next to me and with his index finger makes me look at him, "I'll miss you too, but--"
"I know. It's what you should do, and I'm proud and happy for you. I love you so much." I smile.
"Besides, I'm going to visit every single weekend. You're going to end up annoyed by my presence." He says and kisses my cheek.
"Have you decided where you're gonna' go?"
"I think maybe San Francisco, it's not that far from here and I already have been accepted in SFSU."
"Great," I kiss him. "It's not going to be that bad, isn't it?"
"Of course not, it's you and me who we're talking about, baby."
He puts himself on top of me and begins kissing my entire face. I hear his stomach growl.
"There's nobody home. Do you want me to cook you something?" I ask him.
"Or maybe we could do something else," he smirks. "What do you think?"
"Maybe."

I'm drying my hair and staring at Ethan, whose only wearing a towel around his waist, thank you.
"So, what do you want to eat?"
"You," he gives me a sexy body check.
I laugh, "come on."
"Mac and cheese!" He yells excited, changing into clothes.
After cooking what he wanted and eating watching Drake & Josh, my parents arrive. "Hello Mrs and Mr Mendi," Ethan says.
"Ethan, I already told you, you can call me Katherine!" My mom smiles at him and he smiles back.
"I'm still Mr Mendi to you," my dad says.
They leave the living room and I go to the kitchen to wash the used plates. My parents are there. "I'm just saying you shouldn't be so hard on him, he's your daughter's boyfriend!"
"I'm not hard. Ethan knows I'm joking around, kind of." My dad answers.
"Well, he better know that, I really like him. He's great to Malena."
"I like him too, honey," and with that said I appear in the kitchen, putting the plates in the display and washing them. "Are you two talking about my boyfriend?" I chuckle.
"Perhaps yes. Are you listening to other people's conversations?" My dad hugs my mom while speaking to me.
"Perhaps yes."
I return to the living room, where's Ethan about to fall asleep. Beautiful. "Babe, do you want to sleep in my room?"
"Nah, I'm not sleepy,"
Five minutes after, he's sleeping on my lap.
My phone buzzed on the couch, next to me. Fortunately, it didn't wake Ethan up.
New text from: Groupchat: Cam: Party tonight at Sophie's (Tyler)
From: Groupchat: Violet: You can come to my place before if you want to
Should I go? I'm afraid if I go, this party will lead into another disaster like the other times.
Well, who cares?
To: Groupchat: I'm in.
I kept watching and re-watching episodes of Drake & Josh –since I don't want to move and it's already on– until Ethan finally woke up.
"How much did I sleep?"
I check the time on my phone, "for about...an hour or so."
He gets up and stretches himself. "Ethan, tonight there's a party at Sophie's."
"I know. Grayson told me."
"Oh, why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I don't want you going to that party." He says without giving me a sign that he's joking.
"I can take care of myself." I laugh.
"Malena, you're not going."
"Excuse me? I'm going, whether you like it or not. What makes you believe you can make my own decisions?"
"I'm your boyfriend, of course I can."
"What the hell?" I'm surprised. I never expected any of this coming from Ethan. I don't understand why he's acting like this, so weird. It's like I don't know him anymore.
"Don't you agree that I can choose if you go to a party or if you not?"
"No, you can't! It's my life, Ethan."
"I don't think you're mature enough you know," he begins but I cut him off.
"Mature enough for a party? Let me remember you what happened the last party at Sophie's, you kissed Madison. Have you already forgotten?"
He sighs, "I should go. Have fun tonight."
"I will."
