"Ashy!" I smiled as I welcomed the oh so familiar friend into my home. He walked past me, patting me on the head.
"Have I ever told you just how short you are?"
"Have I ever complained about how much you patronize me?"
"Hello to you, too, Mikey Poo," he smiled and walked past me and down to my room in the basement. I furrowed my brows and followed him. He usually never went straight to my room. He usually liked the sunlight better, and my room closely resembled that of a darkened tomb.
After basically running down the steps and having the door to my room shut behind me, leaving only Ash and I to ourselves, he smiled a smile that held the joy of a child who had just eaten a whole chocolate cake.
"Why so smiles?" I asked as I plopped down on my bed, eyeing the boy in amusement. It was nice to see someone that I cared so much about being so happy.
And clearly I was going to make him tell me why.
"Um, I really don't know how to come out with this," he sighed, still smiling, and sat down next to me on my bed.
"I'm pregnant.""The hell?"
He cracked up laughing so hard I was sure that his lung was going to fall out. I awkwardly laughed along, shaking my head as my friend finally began to regain himself.
"Is it twins?" I asked sarcastically, noticing the way his dimples never did fade.
"No, um... I-I'm gay," my jaw dropped at his suddenness to come out. My mind instantly jumped from place to place, me not really understanding what was going on. It's not that I was upset about him being gay. Hell, I was proud that he admitted it.
But something just didn't exactly add up.
"I've thought over it for a while, ya know?"
I nodded along with what he was saying, wanting to hear him out before I spoke what I was thinking. Basically, I just wanted to be sure that he wasn't high.
I mean, he didn't look high.
"And when I got the offer for Angry Teddy, the vocalist, man - I thought he was pretty cute. The only dude that I've ever thought was cute is you, and well- let's face it, you're like a fucking kitten."
Everyone seriously had the urge to compare me to the felines of the world.
"Yeah," I nodded with a smile, encouraging him to go on.
"But man, this dude - his name is Luke."
Click... Everything that Calum had told me must had been true. I hadn't seen Ash this excited about someone since the ice cream man gave us free ice cream when we were both in primary school.
"I swear, he has the ocean like trapped in his eyes or something. And now that I think about it, man - I don't really find myself attracted to chicks. I mean, yeah, sex is the bomb. But, that's not the only reason I should look into dating chicks, ya know? I've never really had a crush on a girl, and let's face it - some dudes are like amazingly attractive. And one last thing," he sighed, I'm assuming to catch his breath due to the fact of his fast talking.
"And what's that, Ash?"
"I think he likes me, too. I mean, he always blushes around me and stuff; it's the cutest thing ever, Mikey. I swear, this boy has made me realize that attraction isn't sex - it's how you feel compelled to figure out a person's personality. It's wanting to talk to them about everything, yet nothing at all," he glanced up from his lap, where he'd been looking the whole time, and gave me a nervous smile.
