In those three weeks before Christmas, we were busy. We were expanding even more and people started coming two weeks before they were supposed to, but we were handling it. I was rarely seen outside my office because I was so busy, but everyone was good sports those who couldn't help with expansion or prep work entertained or trained.
We planned out everything those who couldn't pay to get there was teleported by a Teleporter (talk about an express flight). I've had server parents ask me where to hide Christmas presents and I gave each of them unique places. It was quite fun helping parents hide stuff and everyone seemed happy. The entire mood of the camp changed when the families started to show, we actually seemed like teenagers. Pranks began to be pulled (Leigha and I quickly ended that when someone thought it was funny to rearrange my room), you could hear laughter at just about all day long, everyone stayed up later then they were supposed to, and everyone was smiling; it's been a long time since we were at peace like this. For Christmas presents people either went to a Creator to ask for help or sent someone, who was born in England, into town or had a Teleporter take them somewhere. I even got presents for my friends and a little something for all the Abilitors.
But we weren't at peace at all. The day to do something about the Watchers was coming, I could feel it and so could everyone else. And the Watchers were beginning to get restless and more gutsy (they attacked several experienced Abilitors on their way here), Ashley had to heal several and some are still in the infirmary. But they haven't tried to attack the camp.
I wonder what they're planning now that I ruined their last plan, I thought as I sat at my desk. Brandon knocked on the door.
"Come in Brandon," I replied. I heard the door open and then shut.
"So my family is coming tomorrow," he said.
"That's good, do you have siblings?" I asked. I noticed he said family not parents.
"And older brother and sister," he replied.
"So you're the baby of the family?" I asked.
"Yeah, but I can't wait for you to meet them," he replied. He seemed really happy.
"I hope I get the chance, I've just been so busy," I said.
"You aren't going to take off for the holiday?" he asked.
"I've got no real reason to," I replied with a shrug.
"Come on what did you do during Christmas before your parents died?" he asked.
"I'd go visit my brother's grave on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day we'd spend the entire day in our pjs watching movies and eating," I replied. "It was a tradition."
"And what have you been doing since then?" he asked.
"Nothing, I've been on the run or been here during Christmas. I guess my last Christmas present was from the year before my parents died," I replied.
"You haven't gotten a Christmas present since then?"
"Or birthday."
"That's really sad."
"I've gotten used to it. I need to travel light most of the time so it's kinda good I don't have stuff weighing me down."
"I guess you should look at the brighter side."
"Yeah, you should probably go get ready for your family."
"Yeah I guess I should. See ya later," he replied and then he left. my phone began to ring.
"Hello?" I asked as I answered it.
"Is Artemis Max there?" a man asked.
"This is her, may I ask who I'm talking to?" I asked.
