Chapter 23

I went up to my office there was a bunch of papers on the desk. I sat in my chair.

"Thought you would be here," Nova commented.

"Thanks for leaving me all this work," I said as I moved a few papers around.

"Yeah sorry and someone kept emailing about your family's business," she replied.

"Great just what I wanted to deal with. He probably wants me to take over now that I'm almost 18," I replied.

"He?"

"He was my dad's VP, but when he died my dad left the business to him. He knew I wouldn't want it or have time to run it."

"So why is he talking to you?"

"Who knows? Hey do you know where Athena is?"

"Yeah a few of the new Abilitors have been taking care of her. And Leigha has been using her for training."

"Training?"

"Yep a new game called: Run away from the killer dog."

"Oh, good game. We used to play: Run around the track or get punished."

"Yeah this gives them more incentive, of course she hasn't hurt anyone."

"That's good, hey have you seen any more of the future?"

"No, it keeps ending the same with those rings and then nothing."

"What if the future itself is uncertain?"

"Explain."

"What if that's my choice. if it goes one way or another. If we die or if the Watchers die."

"That could be it, but I still can't figure out what the rings are."

"Or what the dot is."

"But we will. Do you really think Protocol Alpha is the best way to go?"

"We can't have send Abilitors out there to protect and watch them. We don't even have enough to do that, and they would have to stay hidden too; so that narrows down our numbers even more. Besides it would be putting them in danger, Protocol Alpha is our only choice."

"Yeah, I guess."

"Was it really that hard to do this job?"

"Kinda, but our team helped me when I was gonna kill myself."

"Speaking of that, I think we should tell everyone about what you saw."

"Yeah."

I took a deep breath and entered my code for the intercom. "Team One please come see me."

Within a few minutes my team was in my office, thankfully Ashley, Bailey, Mason, and Brandon did not come. I was glad they forgot they were part of Team One.

"You know Artemis there is this wonderful thing called sleep, you should try it some time," Winry said when she came in.

"I know I'm sorry, but there's something Nova and I need to tell you," I replied.

"We should have told you a long time ago, but there was the traitor and it's just been one thing after another," Nova said.

"What?" Anna asked. Nova explained what see saw in her vision.

"And I think it might have something to do with the prophecy," I said.

"That's a possibility, but what?" Winry asked.

"I'm not sure," I replied.

"We'll all think about it, but I'm going to bed now," Leigha said and the she left.
