I woke up to the sound of the bell ringing.
"Okay class! Don't forget that your DNA replica is due tomorrow!" my science teacher Ms. Price said as students started piling out the door.
I picked up my books and walked out the door.
"Allison!" I heard a voice call from behind me. I turned around to look but still walking forward. It was my friend Danielle. I slowed down so she could catch up and turned my head forward to run right into someone.
"Oh hey, Ashlie!" I said
and Danielle now standing by my side.
She didn't say anything and just nudged herself past me. After what happened last night she hasn't talked to me at all today.
"What's her problem?" Danielle said.
"I don't know, maybe her day started off bad." I lied.
We continued walking to our lockers since they were side by side. I hadn't been friends with Danielle until this year only because our lockers were next to each others.
"So what have you been up to lately?" Danielle asked.
"Nothing much. Just the usual, sitting at home trying to find things to keep me productive. With my luck I end up bored anyways." I said.
"Do you want to hangout tomorrow? Maybe go to the mall or a movie?" Danielle asked.
"Yeah, sure." I answered.
I crammed my science book into my small locker and took out my math book. I shut my locker and started walking to class leaving Danielle behind.
It was a long boring hour in Math like everyday. When the bell rang everyone basically ran out to get to lunch including me. Here at Westonburg High, if you don't run to lunch, you're waiting 10 to 15 minutes just to get your food. I preset my locker combination so I could just open my locker and throw my books in. I took off running towards the cafeteria just to get yelled at by the librarian, Mrs. Sloan.
"Miss Allison! No running!" Mrs. Sloan scolded.
I slowed down to speed walking making sure to walk slow by each teacher.
When I got into the line Danielle came and cut in line by me. We usually did this everyday. Whoever got there first just waited and the other just got in line with them. You're not supposed to do that, but we never get caught.
"There's definitely something up with Ashlie. She's sitting by herself!" Danielle assumed.
"I will talk to her tonight about it." I said.
We got our lunch and sat down at the table we normally sit at with Jaidyn, Courtney, Keaton, Lucas, Caitlin, and Olivia.
The rest of the day was pretty much like my normal day of school. Finish my classes and then go home. My mom picks me up still because I'm only 15. In 3 more months I will get my license.
When I got home I did my homework and then ate dinner.
"How was your day at school?" My mom asked stuffing her face with green beans.
"Good." I replied.
I always reply with the same answer every time she asks. Even if my day wasn't good, I still reply with good just because it ends the conversation.
We talked some more about just anything. Stuff I've learned, my friends, just typical things like that.
I put my plate in the sink and went back to my room. The first thing I did was pick up my phone to call Ashlie and find out why she hasn't talked to me all day.
The phone rang 3 times before she answered.
"Hello?" Ashlie said.
"Hey, we need to talk.." I started before she interrupted me.
"I'm sorry I haven't talked to you. I'm not mad or anything I just have been thinking a lot and didn't really feel like talking to anyone." she quickly said.
"Oh, well it's okay. We need to tell someone don't you think?" I asked.
"Tell someone what? That Hannah was trying to get into the daredevils that's A SECRET GROUP and she died from falling off a water tower?! Yeah, sure Allison."
"I guess you're right but I can't keep it to myself." I said.
"Allison, if you tell anyone, it will get back around to the police then we will probably get arrested for murder." Ashlie assured me.
"I guess so." I sort of agreed.
"I have to go." Ashlie said and hung up the phone.
I sat my phone down on my night stand, laid back on my pillow and closed my eyes for a few seconds. I turned on the tv searching for a channel to watch. There's nothing on, of course. I turned it on the news.
"Police report Hannah Vasquez missing since late last night." the news reporter said.
I turned off the tv, picked up my phone and redialed Ashlie's number. She immediately answered.
"Allison I said I had to go." Ashlie said irritated.
"It's on the news." I said.
Ashlie said nothing.
