Ever since that day that Stiles had told me about the Hale house burning down I've done everything in my power to make sure my sister stayed away from there so that I could avoid it all together. I didn't wanna risk coming face to face with whoever I had seen in that shattered window upstairs, however, for some reason or another my sister seemed to be intrigued by the place. She had dreams of being a photographer and saw the place as “beautiful.” I had a feeling that she was just doing it to annoy me though.
“Abby, don't you already have enough photos of that place? Seriously.” I whined at her as she grabbed her camera and began to head out the door.
“Oh come on Beth, I don't see why you're so scared of the place! It's just a burnt down house that's been abandoned.” she egged me on. I really wanted to slap some sense in her.
“You do realize that if you're inside taking photos that the whole thing could collapse on you, right? I mean it can't be all that stable.” I tried to reason with her, but she wasn't having it.
“You're just trying to make up an excuse not to drive me there!” she shot back at me. Her voice was starting to rise and let me know that she was getting angry.
“Or maybe I'm actually trying to look out for you and your safety. There is so many things that could go wrong. It could collapse or what if you find someone's dead body in here...or worse, what if it's some creeps hide out and he attacks you?” I began to go over all the possibilities.
“...You're not serious are you?” she replied with a look of disbelief. “You say I act like a little kid, but at least I don't go around letting horror movie warp my mind.” she snapped back. I was about over it.
“Well I'm not driving you there. I have plans anyways...I'm going to a party.” I said with a matter-of-fact tone to my voice. This seemed to catch her attention.
“Why didn't you tell me there was a party?!” she exclaimed.
I had originally heard about the party through Allison. She had talked to me and Lydia about how Scott was supposed to be her date and the Lydia had gone to grill her about what she was going to wear. I remember them both asking me if I was going to go or not, but at the time I told them I wasn't sure. My plan had actually been to just stay home and watch a movie. Since I still didn't know that many people, I thought I would just feel awkward at a party where I only knew maybe five people or so, but it looks like my plans had just changed.
“Everyone's been talking about it, how can you NOT know?” I asked her, surprised that this was the first she had heard of it.
While I managed to get her to forget about her desire to visit in the woods, it did mean that I now had to deal with her at some party. I guess I can't win them all. Trying to find the house where the party was taking place was more difficult than I thought, but after aimlessly driving around the area I was told it would be in, eventually I found a bunch of cars parked outside and figured that was my destination. Upon turning my car off, Abby said something about seeing Stiles jeep and jumped out of the car and rushed inside to find him.
Poor Stiles. He doesn't even have a clue what he's in for I thought while I entered the house.
The house was packed with kids from school who were either dancing, getting drinks from the kitchen, or off to the side in their own little groups as they talked to each other. Surprisingly the music wasn't overly loud which made it a lot easier to listen in for any familiar voices. I saw that Lydia was off with Jackson while Allison was enjoying her time with Scott. I casually stood by a wall for about fifteen minuets as I quietly observed people until I caught a glimpse of Stiles. Since it seemed that my sister hadn't got to him yet, I decided to talk to him while I could so that I looked less awkward.
