It felt like an eternity had passed before everyone started to clear away from the Hale house and head home. By some miracle I had managed to slip away from everyone that was leaving and started to walk home on my own. I knew that I could have easily gotten a ride home, but after witnessing a full blown werewolf get burnt to death and then killed by Derek, I really just wanted some time alone to process everything. Even though it had been some time since I was locked in the school with Peter Hale, part of me was still trying to come to terms with everything that had happened since that night. cold chill suddenly ran down my spine as I finally realized that it was cooler outside than normal.
A What are you doing Elizabeth? You can't just go home like this when you have so many questions racing through your mind! I thought harshly to myself as I debated over if I should keep heading in the direction of my house or turn back around and find Derek. After a few minuets of mentally arguing with myself I finally decided to turn back around and head back to the Hale house. Shortly after I walked back on the property I saw Jackson stagger out of the house clutching his side. Not wanting to be seen by him, I hide behind a tree until he was out of my view. Once I knew he was gone, I quickly walked up to the house and shoved the door open to see Derek standing there with his eyes focused on me.
“Did you....did you bite Jackson?” I asked him skeptically, but he seemed unfazed by the question.
“Yea, I did. He wanted the bite, so I only gave him what he wanted.” he answered bluntly. I couldn't believe that he had actually bitten Jackson.
“Because Jackson is someone who totally needs to be a werewolf. He's already an ass as it is, turning him into a werewolf is only going to stroke his already raging ego.” I shot back bitterly as I crossed my arms in disbelief.
“Why, did you have someone else in mind that deserves the bite more than him?” he asked me casually as he took a few steps towards me.
“What?” I blurted out, a little taken aback by his question.
“You heard me. Did you have someone else in mind that deserves the bite more than him?” he repeated. My heart sped up as he circled behind me.
“Uh, I---” I started to say, but the sound of his voice whispering in my ear rendered me speechless.
“You know, I could give you the bite as well. Think about it, you'd be faster and stronger than everbefore. You'd be able to protect not only yourself, but your family and friends as well.” He started to explain to me. I thought my heart was going to explode from shock alone.
“I...I don't know Derek.” I stammered out, but he continued on
“Why not?” he questioned me. I could feel his breath on my neck.
“Being hunted for the rest of my life and possibly losing control and killing someone doesn't exactly sound very appealing.” I replied softly as I thought about what I had just said.
“You wouldn't be alone. Scott and I will both be here to help you. I could train you.” he pitched.
I still wasn't completely convinced that being turned into a werewolf was really a great idea. I knew that both Scott and Derek would be around, but what if something happened and they weren't? On top of that, I didn't really like the idea that I'd have to be constantly looking behind my back to make sure some hunter wasn't trying to put twenty something arrows into me. Other than that, I couldn't deny that the idea of being faster and stronger sounded nice. Being a werewolf meant that I could keep my mom and sister safe as well as help Scott and Stiles keep our friends safe. Do you really want this Elizabeth? Is it worth it? You know, there's a chance that your body won't even accept the bite. Better yet, could you even handle it? I thought to myself. Before I could stop myself, I responded with my answer.
“I'll do it.” I blurted out confidently.
“You made a good choice.” I heard his whisper in my ear.
I still couldn't tell you what in the world had possessed me to accept his offer, but as I felt one of his hands gently brush my hair to the side before I felt the sharp pain of fangs digging into my delicate shoulder, I knew that there was no going back now. The pain from the bite was more intense than I could have ever imagined and I let out a yelp of pain when I felt him bite into my shoulder. Thankfully, the whole thing only lasted a few seconds and was over before I even got the chance to blink. I felt relieved when his mouth came away from my shoulder, but winced a little when he lowered his head and gently kissed the bite that he had just given me.
“W..what now?” I asked, unsure of where to go from here.
“Now we wait to see if the bite will heal.” he answered softly.
“Would you mind giving me a ride home? Everyone else sorta left awhile ago...” I asked him while I pulled my shirt up to cover the mark he had left on me.
“Sure. Let me help you to the car.” he said as softly took a hold of my hand and led me outside to his car before heading down the street. The car ride home was oddly quiet.
“I....” I started to say, but I trailed off instead.
“You gonna be okay Beth?” he asked me with a hint of worry.
“Yeah, I think so.” I said softly as I looked out the car window.
“I can tell that your nervous, but don't be. Don't worry, the bite will take.” he said me. I smiled a little at the fact that he was sorta trying to comfort me.
“I really hope you're right.” I stated as he pulled into the drive way.
Instead of getting out of his car and going inside, I sat there silently with my gaze focused intensely on my house. So many things were racing through my mind. I was still in shock that I let Derek give me the bite and was worried for about what was in store for me in the days to come. With Allison's family turning out to be hunters, I couldn't really help but be weary. After several minuets of silence passed I finally decided that I probably needed to get out of the car so that Derek could go home, but right as I started to get out of his car, I felt his hand grip my arm and pull me back. Before I knew it I felt his lips crashing onto my mine. Instead of being a rough kiss, it was as if he was trying to tell me that everything was going to be fine.
“Everything is going to be fine. I promise.” he said as I stared into his green orbs with an intense look.
“O..okay. I trust you.” I said back before finally getting out of his car.
Much to my relief, my mom and sister were both already in bed asleep which made it a lot easier for me to sneak into my room. I knew that tomorrow they were probably going to question me on my whereabouts, but at least for now I had some time to let everything sink in. Now it was just a waiting game. Either my body accepted the bite and I turned, or it rejected it and I died. I was desperately hoping that it was the former that was going to happen.
