Chapter 23- Sundancer

I was really starting to get worried about Sunpearl. She seemed to be getting sick and that couldn't happen. Darkstar would completely take advantage of her weakened state. He was pretty strong about his message that Sunpearl was his when he knocked her up with his foal. She really was worrying me though. Silverblaze better come back soon. He really was pissing me off. At least Thunder left me alone for the most part. I think he was afraid of me in some ways. I don't mind him being afraid, but for Sunpearl, she's going through a living hell. I saw her by the stream with Darkstar behind her.
She looked so miserable and Darkstar seemed to not care at all. He was constantly nudging her abdomen which would eventually protrude from her sides from the baby.
I walked up to her and started grazing next to her.
"What are you doing?" Darkstar looked at me.
I tilted my head and answered so innocently, "I am grazing next to my friend." I went back to eating and he walked away in a huff. Sunpearl looked at me great fully.
"Thanks for that." She whispered and started to drink from the stream. I nickered gently and stood there with her. She seemed to not be talking to anyone but me.
"How come no one is talking to you?" I looked at her gently.
"I think they know what has happened and they are fully disgusted." She sighed. I could tell she was embarrassed and ashamed at what Darkstar had done. I don't blame her though. I took pity on her.
"Anything I can do to help?"
Sunpearl looked at me and her eyes looked so sad.
"We need to get out of here but we can't leave the herd." She sighed.
We definitely couldn't leave. I turned around and looked towards the cave.
No sign of Thunder or Darkstar. So for once maybe they weren't watching us. We heard rustling in the woods and out popped the overo that started his new life not to long ago.
"Sunny!" He whispered and I think he was here to help us.
For once Sunpearl had hope in her eyes.
"Hawkeye you have no idea how happy I am to see you!" I whispered to the now stallion. I was thrilled. He smiled.
"I came to help. I found Pepper and Cinnamon. They said that they were looking for Silverblaze and couldn't find him." He looked at Sunpearl who obviously wanted to know about Winter.
"And Winter says sorry that she didn't get to say bye. She misses you." Sunpearl seemed pleased but stayed quiet.
"They are at my cave though. I wanted them to stay safe." He whispered. I understood though.
"What are you going to do?" Sunpearl asked quietly.
"I'm going to have to fight them. I saw Silverblaze getting laid with some mare." Hawk seemed somewhat annoyed. That figures that Silverblaze would do something like that. I looked at Sunpearl. She looked even more ashamed and disgusted than I did. I wonder if she loved him. I'll ask her about it later. I still questioned whether I loved him or not. Cuz there was some days that I could eat his flesh but then there were days that I could well... what two horses in love would do. I missed when we were madly in love and everything was perfect. I smiled at the thought. I didn't want Hawk to get hurt though. If he died I would never forgive myself.
"Hawk, you can't go in there by yourself. If you get killed I could never forgive myself."
I looked at the pinto. He really was a strong and brave horse. He seemed annoyed that I didn't want him to go in.
"Sunny, if I don't go in then no one will and you will be stuck here. If I win the herd goes to me. I can win against both of them. Trust me please. Think about it. You raised me so that I could take care of myself when I left. Now I can. Please let me help you to show you that I'm strong like you taught me." He sounded so hopeful. I couldn't turn him down.
"Okay Hawk but if I tell you to surrender, you surrender. Do you understand?" I sternly spoke to him.
He nodded and Sunpearl had hope for the first time in a long time. We followed Hawkeye in and he stamped his foot.
"I want this herd!" He reared as he challenged Thunder to a battle.
"Who do you think you are?" Thunder yelled at Hawk as they raced outside to fight.
"That is my family and I want them back!" Hawkeye boomed his voice as he dodged a hoof in the head from Thunder. He had really grown and Thunder was only a little bigger than Hawkeye so it evened out. After dodging attack from Thunder, he reared and struck the andalusian in the head. Me and Sunpearl gasped in unison as the gash on Thunder's head gushed out blood. His body had started convulsing and that's when we knew he had died. Hawkeye won. I was so proud of him but he still had Darkstar. Luckily Hawk had plenty of strength left.
"What the hell is happening?" I heard Darkstars yelling voice as he came out and saw his dead brother.
"Thunder!" He was furious and it was actually quite scary. He turned and glared at Hawk who had won my herd.
"Were you the one that killed him!?"  Darkstar went right up to his face with angry eyes.
"Yes I was. And I believe this herd is now mine."  Hawkeye stood his ground. The snow was covered in red from the blood.
"Well it's my herd and you are fighting me." I heard the anger in his voice as he reared and slipped over the blood causing him to come tumbling down.
"This is for my herd now!" Hawkeye shrieked at the fallen over fresian as his hooves collided with the black horses head, killing him.
