I hadn't told Sunpearl about my encounter with Silverblaze last night. I felt like it would just stress her out more. I talked to Hawk today and we decided to start moving. Sienna graciously offered to help Sunpearl walk while I made sure everyone was safe, and in order. We had to walk around the dead bodies but it was necessary so that we could get through. I had Lizzie with me the whole time and she could tell something was wrong.
"Mommy are you okay?" Lizzie asked me.
"Yes sweetie I'm okay." I faked a smile but she didn't seem impressed. She backed off though which I was grateful for. My love life sucked. Silverblaze was right for once even though I wouldn't admit it to anyone. I was a strong and confident mare though. I never really needed a stallion to protect me or whatever. I continued to help Hawkeye bring the herd to the cave he was at. It was actually very roomy and even though I was there to help, you could tell that he wouldn't be able to be the leader of the giant herd. He was trying really hard though. I kept everyone in the cave for now though unless it was time to eat or if they needed water. I needed a lead stallion and so did Sunpearl. I wanted to talk to her in private about some things though. I would rather talk to her alone and away from everyone though so I had to make sure Hawk had everything under control.
"Hey hawk, I need to talk to Sunpearl about something. Do you have anything under control?" I looked at the overo and he nodded as I walked over to where Sunpearl was laying down so she could keep the weight off her one hoof.
"Hey Sunpearl, if I help you get up, do you want to talk outside?" I looked gently at the palomino as she gestured for me to help her up. I pushed against her as she struggled to stand. Her hoof would probably feel better in a few days.
She hobbled outside with me and we layed back down under a tree that had almost no snow under it. It was nice to see grass again. We sat there silently for a moment when I decided to just start talking.
"Do you love Silverblaze?" I looked at her and she seemed to be taken aback but her eyes looked towards the ground.
"I care about him very much, but I don't think I could ever 'love' him. I could never have kids with him but at the same time, I raised Pepper with him." Sunpearl sighed.
"Has he ever talked about me?" I looked at Sunpearl. I wanted to know the truth.
"Yes he did. He would talk about you quite frequently." Sunpearl looked back at me.
"He loves you even if he thinks he doesn't."
I smiled at the thought but I remembered what had happened last night. My face fell. I had to tell her.
"I saw him last night." I admitted to the palomino.
She looked at me with surprise written on her face.
"What!?" She whispered.
"He was with some bay horse named Coco. I confronted him last night when I was looking for you."
I had anger in my voice as I continued, "He wasn't planning on coming back." I was so angryat him. Sunpearl looked disappointed.
She was about to have a breakdown I could tell but all that came out was when she whispered, "oh."
