I looked around to find Sunpearl. She wasn't anywhere.
I congratulated and thanked Hawkeye ads I looked through the cave. I was looking around when I heard shrieks. It was Lizzie. I ran out, and saw Lizzie looking at the dead bodies.
"Lizzie! Sweetie come here." I called out after my filly and she immediately came over with her eyes closed trying to block out the vision she saw. She bumped right into me and looked up with fear in her eyes.
"Mom-Mommy.." she leaned into me trembling and I wrapped my neck around her.
"Its okay sweetie, come on let's go back inside." I nudged my foal into the cave away from the blood. We would have to leave but I had to find Sunpearl first. I brought Lizzie to Sienna and since everyone knew who the stallion of the herds were, everyone calmed down a bit. I was still the lead mare though until I got a stallion.
"Listen everyone, Sunpearl has gone missing." I announced to the horses and they all kind of rolled their eyes. I don't understand why they were mad at Sunpearl though like honestly. It wasn't her fault what Darkstar did to her. Sure it was dirty, and mean, and just plain wrong, but it wasn't her fault.
"Anyways, you are to stay here. If I find out that any of you have left, I will be angry. I'm going out to look for her. When I return, we will start moving to a different location away from the bodies. Do you understand?" I was stern when I spoke and everyone nickered in agreement. It was getting dark though and I didn't want to be stuck out in the dark, in the cold. Sunpearl shouldn't be out there either. I had to find her before it was too late. I swallowed hard at the thought of finding her dead. I didn't want to think about it. I headed out into the cold to find her. I memorized different places so that I could easily find my way back. I had been walking for hours when I heard horses in case nearby. I wondered if Sunpearl went in there. I walked in and to my surprise, it was Silverblaze with some little bay mare. He looked terrified to see me.
"Um, hi Sunny." He obviously was uncomfortable.
I was furious. He backed out so he wouldn't die?! What about the rest of us? I was going to let him have it.
"What the hell Silverblaze!?" I paused and looked at the mare.
"You surrendered so you could run away with someone? What about your herd? Huh? What were planning to do? Let us all die!?" I was yelling at him at this point and the mare tried to get away but I blocked her.
"Do you know he has a son? A son and a whole herd he abandonded? He left us to die!" I yelled at the bay mare.
"What the hell were you letting him do? Why would you let him do that to other horses? Leave them there to die. Was this for your fun and pleasure with a stallion?" I screamed at the mare and she stayed silent.
"ANSWER ME BEFORE I MAKE YOU!" I went right up against her, glaring into her eyes.
"Sundancer stop." Silverblaze looked at me.
"No! I'm not going too!" I kicked the mare out of the cave as she squealed in pain and galloped away.
"Coco wait!" Silverblaze called after her but I wouldn't let him out.
"What were you thinking?! Sunpearl trusted you. She thought you were coming back. Do you know what even happened?" I stared at Silverblaze as he looked at me.
"No I don't know what happened. Is Sunpearl and Pepper alright?" Silverblaze acted like he cared.
"Why the hell would you care?! You left them fo-for her! That stupid little mare "Coco" or whatever the hell her name is!" I was close to crying.
"Is this really about them? Are you sure this isn't about you being lonely again?" Silverblaze tilted his head at his remark.
"You know what Silverblaze? Do whatever the fuck you want. I don't care anymore. I have to go find Sunpearl now because she is out in the cold, probably close to death right now. I don't have time for your bullshit." I was so infuriated and insulted. Did the lovewe shared mean anything to him? I walked out of the cave and heard his hoofbeats behind me.
I stopped and turned around.
"Go away Silverblaze. Leave me alone." I snapped at him.
"Sundancer, please let me help." Silverblaze tried to sound convincing.
"No. Leave me alone. I can't wait to tell your son all about you when he grows up. And that isn't going to be my problem when he hates you because you were a crappy stallion who only cared about himself." I turned around to continue walking and I heard his hoofbeats fade away as he stood there to take in what I just said. I was walking for a while on the cold but I had to find Sumpearl. At least it wasn't blizzarding. There was only baby flurries but that wasn't so bad compared to some of the other things that had happened. I found a little dirt trail while I was walking. I followed it and saw a lump of golden fur on the ground. It was Sunpearl. I immediately cantered over and nudged her.
"Sunpearl! It's me!" I frantically tried to wake her up. Sure enough her eyelids slowly opened as they adjusted to the darkness outside and she barely smiled as she saw me.
"Sunny.." she whispered to me but I could barely understand her.
"My hoof..." she looked at her front hoof.
"I stepped on something."
I slowly bent down to look at her hoof. Sure enough there was something sharp lodged in it and the frog of her hoof had started to swell up.
"Sunpearl, this is going to hurt. I'm going to pull it out with my teeth." I warned her and she slowly nodded her head. I pulled it out and she shrieked in pain but she needed to be able to walk home. I helped push her up and I let her lean on me as I led her home.
