Lovely Number 66

42 3 2

numbers are steps and the size of shoes,

our age and impossible maths to do

numbers rule our world and hold our life's thread

tell us if we are overweight or in need of food

numbers also give us goals and competitions of sorts

some numbers ring with impossible things as 66 is 99 upside down.

Alice in Wonderland on page 66 eats a mushroom

And finds herself in the garden of flowers and a cool fountain.

No I believe that was page 58 and the Red Queen's

Crazy croquet game with numbers five and eight saying nothing

And number two spilling the beans on something?

Really dear me, keep on track!  Otherwise the poem is not fact.

Page 66 is indeed a trick of my eye and there is Dutchess

Shaking in fright. Wobbling like a lump of jelly- oh so muchness.

And our Alice spies the Red Queen- oh so a threatening sight.

Saying with all her big red headedness, "Now I give you fair warning,

Shouted the Queen stamping on the ground as she spoke,

"either you or your head must be off, and that in half the time. Take your choice!"

This ofcourse may not be so in your book of Alice, so let me know.

Is page 66 different with every print and does it exist at all in the original text?

That one first printed in 1865, (dam it should have been the year later

so my love for 66 number could be well and truly fixed) .. so now

how can I give you this crazy impossible poem as being linked to Alice in Wonderland?

So look close at quotations, the beginning is like 66 and the end like 99, but only sometimes.

I again must link that last line to this one

and remember when we wrote long hand?

Those quotation marks had to be so

66 with the dot down to start and the dot up as 99

to close the speech of any kind, now remember that  it was so

Other wise my poem has nowhere to go.

Nowhere to go but Wonderland

Give me Alice when time is bland

Give me Alice to escape too

When I need a place to go to

The dreams of impossible things

Can be the start of a real something.
