■■■■■Mark's POV
I looked at my reflection in the mirror, trying to do my tie. I always failed whenever I did this, don't know why. I decided to stop trying and waited for Jess done changing. Tonight we were going to a private party in London. Yes, we were in London baby! (remember when the first time they went to London for recording Swear It Again and all of them kept saying this? -falley)I heard the bathroom's door shut and I turned around to see her figure.
Beautiful.
Only that word that popped out in my head the first second I saw her standing there in a dark green longsleeves dress. It fit perfectly on her body and its long just stopped right on her knees perfectly.
"How...how do I look? Do I look... okay?" She asked nervously, not having any confidence in her voice. Of course she was nervous. This was the first time I took her to a party like this.
I just stared at her in awe, not finding words I wanted to say.
"You don't like it, do you? Gosh, I should've known. Okay I'm gonna change into something else, okay? I'm sorry if you need to wait fo-"
"No, wait, Jess." I stopped her quick talking. "You look wonderful, amazing... Flawless." I smiled, approaching her. I put a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Very beautiful, moreover in my favourite colour."
"Really? You...you're not lying, are you?" I didn't get it why she didn't feel confident when she looked like this. Maybe she should see herself with my own eyes so she wouldn't think like this.
"Of course no, I don't. You look perfect."
"You look perfect."
"Not if I'm compared to you." I winked. "Help me with this?" I showed her my tie.
She laughed.
"What's so funny about it?"
"Really, Mark? You can't do a tie? Gosh, I even can do it in a minute."
"Well, I've tried for years and still can't do a good one, even the very least good one. So, no, I can't."
Smiling and chuckling, she took the tie and put it on me. I just looked at her when she did it, none of us saying anything. I didn't know why I somehow really enjoyed this moment. This just felt different, in a good way.
And just like she said, in a minute, I had worn my tie perfectly. "Done."
"Thank you, love." I smiled and kissed her cheek. "So, let's go, shall we?"
-----"I'm nervous...and scared, a bit." She whispered as we were on our way to the party.
"You'll be alright. There's nothing to be worried about."
"Stay by my side, yeah?"
I chuckled. "I'm always here, Jess. I'm never leaving you." I caressed her hand which entwined with mine softly, reassuring her, as I stopped the car. "We're here."
Stepping out the car, I went to the other side of it to open the door for her. I offered my hand to be held, which she obviously accepted. I gripped it lightly to give her some confidence. "Let's go." I smiled to her.
She smiled nervously as she stepped out and then we walked inside the hall. It was crowded enough to make her grip tighter.
"We're going to be alright." I smiled to her.
"Mark!" I suddenly heard someone call me from behind.
We both turned around and found the figure who called me. "Dawn?"
"Yes, it's me." She then walked towards us. "Long time no see." She smiled.
"Ah yes, right." I agreed. "How's life?"
"Still the same." She chuckled. "How about you?"
"Better." I smiled as I glanced at Jess. "Anyway Dawn, this is Jess, my girlfriend. Jess, this is Dawn, a friend from senior high. She used to work in the studio."
"Finally get a girl, eh?" She teased me. "Hi, I'm Dawn." She smiled, offering her hand which Jess accepted.
"I'm Jess. Nice to meet you." Somehow their handshake was a bit awkward, don't know why.
"Well, we should be going in to not miss the party."
"Alright, let's go."
-----It had been a half hour since the party started. Jess decided to sit at the table in the corner as I went to get us drinks. Also, I met some friends and had a small talk. It was nice finally meeting some of them again.
"Here you go." I said as I gave Jess the drink.
"Thanks." She said, a bit quiter.
I sat beside her and turned my face to her, trying to read what was on her mind. She didn't feel too comfortable here, I could sense it. "What is it?"
"Hmm?" She hummed, not getting what I meant.
"What are you thinking about? What's on your mind? Tell me."
"I...I'm fine."
I chuckled lightly. "You aren't."
"I am." She said, looking away.
I just smiled to myself, knowing what to do. "Let's take some fresh air." I stood up, taking her hand in mine. "Come on."
I took her to the garden where some couples slow-danced to the classic music. I let go of her hand as we got there. "May I have a dance with you, Miss?" I asked her like in most films.
She chuckled and a little smile showed in her face as she nodded, taking my hand. "Whenever you want, Mister."
We started slow dancing and enjoyed the feeling. Really, I really enjoyed this somehow. I meant, there was nothing special today but this moment just felt right for me. We didn't say anything to each other for fifteen minutes until I spoke. "Do you wanna take a break? My legs are tired, haha."
"Of course they are, obviously." She just chuckled again. "Alright."
I took her to the most quiet spot in the garden and laid down on the grass. She did the same beside me. We both were looking at the night sky which decorated by stars.
"Beautiful night, eh?"
"Yeah." She replied shortly.
"And beautiful you too." I smiled.
"Stop saying that."
"Why? It's true."
"No, it's not." Her voice was weaker. This is the problem. This is what's been on her mind.
"What does make you think like that?"
"There are so many beautiful girls here and I'm not one of them. All your girl friends are, but not me. Some of them likes you too, you know, including Dawn. I can see it when they look at you. I...I'm scared I'm just not...good enough for you. I'm scared you'll lea-"
"Jessica." I stopped her from talking, turning my face to hers. "You're right."
She seemed so surprised by words I just said.
"All of them are beautiful, that's right. But, you know what? You are the only most beautiful one for me, ever. You can't be compared to them because you are different. You are you, Jessie. I love you, not Dawn, not any of them. Just you. So, don't ever try to change and don't ever feel like you're not good enough for me. You are the best, I know it for sure." I caressed her cheek. "I love you, Jess. Only you."
