Jay was happy. Excited. Everyday, he'd wake up and kiss her. He'd make her breakfast and then care for Shay. He'd wake up with a smile and then head to work, he didn't like leaving his son and his girlfriend, but he had to make some money to pay the bills.
"Jay, you gonna leave? Your shift's about to start!" Erin yelled throughout the house. She held Shay in her arms. He was drinking a bottle of milk. Now, he was 9 and a half months old.
"I'm coming. So, I'll tell Voight that you aren't coming in today because Shay's got a fever." Jay was confident. "Has it gone down a bit?"
"No, I'm starting to worry, I might take him to the doctor..." Erin confessed. She checked his temperature. "99.8 degrees." Erin's eyes showed fear for her child, but she didn't let that show. She grabbed her keys and followed Jay out. As Jay went to work, she went to the doctor.
Jay walked up the stairs and into the intelligence unit. "Ruzek, get that off your head!" He laughed as he sat down in his chair.
"What?" He placed his hand on his head and felt a piece of paper. "Who put this on my head!?" He chuckled and looked at Atwater.
"Hey, it wasn't me, it was Mouse.." he smiled.
"Yeah, sure." Ruzek spun in his chair.
"So, Ruzek, I hear you and Kim called it... is that true?" Jay pondered.
"It was consensual. We both felt it was... unnecessary? Is that the right word?" Ruzek answered.
"No. Dude, unnecessary? Really?" Jay complained. "Do you love her...? Don't answer that, I know you do. So why let her go? Get her back, tell her you're ready!" He stood up and walked over to his desk. "Tell her you want to get married right there and then." Jay pounded his fist on Ruzek's desk.
"Jay, calm down. It was consensual!" Ruzek argued.
"You guys sound like you are talking about sex right now..." Atwater murmured.
"Believe me, it wasn't. She only said that because it's easier to believe. She still loves you and she wants you to fight for her. I've been where you are, not with Kim but with Erin, and she wants you to marry her." Jay responded, angrily.
"Damn, dude. You're right." Ruzek ran down the stairs, determined to find Kim. Luckily she was still waiting for Platt to give her orders. He confessed his love and Kim took him back. Much easier than Erin did for Jay.
Jay picked up his phone and called Erin. "How's my son?" He asked.
"Not so good...I think you need to come to the hospital, it's very serious." She sobbed out.
"Alright, I'm on my way, just hold on." He grabbed his keys and ran down the staircase and out the door.
Jay arrived at Chicago Med and hurried into Shay's room to see Dr. Manning (Natalie), Erin, Shay, and his brother. They were all waiting for him.
"What's wrong?" Jay asked.
"His temperature is abnormally high so we took some tests," Will started.
"He does have a fever, but along with it, he also has a hernia." Natalie finished.
