"And what exactly does that mean? For Shay?" Jay trailed on.

"It means we will have to take him into surgery and repair it or he could die." Will comforted.

"How...? What caused it?" Jay asked, holding Erin, who was speechless.

"We don't know, but the best we can do right now is try and save your son's life." Natalie stated.

"You have a son, right?" Erin asked.

"Yeah, what about him?" Natalie questioned.

"Treat Shay like he's your own..." Erin cried out.

"Do the surgery." Jay ordered and nudged for Erin to sit down.

"Jay, nothing will happen to my nephew, I promise." Will stated patting him on the shoulder.

And with that both doctors and friends left the room. Erin and Jay sat there crying as they took Shay into surgery.

As Natalie came into the waiting room where Jay and Erin wait, both parents stood up.

"Erin...Jay...There were some complications, Shay, he...." Natalie's eyes teared up. "We lost him for a couple minutes, he went into cardiac arrest, luckily we were able to get him back. We succesfully repaired his hernia." Natalie hugged Erin and then smiled at Jay.

As Natalie left, Jay stopped her, "Thanks, Natalie."

"Don't thank me, thank your brother, he saved Shay, not me." Natalie informed walking out.

Jay held Erin's hand and led her into Shay's cute little baby room. Shay started laughing and moving his arms around and kicking his legs. Erin laughingly cried. "I love you so much, Shay, never die on me." Erin confessed.

"It's okay, Erin, he's fine." Jay pulled her into a big bear hug.

"Jay, we should get married." Erin smiled, wiping away her tears.

"Erin, we shouldn't. I love you, but we aren't ready for that yet." Jay stated, kissing her to make sure she didn't get mad at him.

"You're right. I love you, Jay. You are the only man for me." She laughed and kissed him back.

"Go home. I've got him. Once they release him, I'll bring him home. Go get some rest." Jay ordered.

"Are you sure? I..." Erin started.

"I'm sure, go home." Jay finished. Erin made sure his car seat was in the room before leaving and then went home.

She stumbled up the stairs and into her room. She laid down onto the very comfortable, fluffy, white bed and pressed her head into the soft pillows. She pulled the comforter over herself and fell into a deep sleep.

Jay finally signed the discharge papers for Shay and took him home. He opened the front door and went up the stairs. He laid Shay into his crib and shuffled into his room. "Erin..." He whispered. "Erin, I'm home."

"Hmm?" She wearyingly mumbled.

"I'm home, wake up." He kissed her on the forehead.

"Jay? Lay with me for a while." She murmured. "Do you hear how peaceful and quiet it is?"

"Yeah, I like it this way." He got on top of her and kissed her.

Erin removed his shirt but heard Shay cry and got up off the bed. "I'll be back buttercup..." She chuckled and left the room.

He laid there and laughed so hard he turned red. He removed his shoes socks and turned the TV on. "Erin, there was a car accident, get in here!"

Erin rushed into the room and sat on the bed next to him.

"BREAKING NEWS! There was a car accident on Lincoln and 18th, Patrol Officers Sean Roman and Kim Burgess were in a car chase. Unfortunately, the officers were hit by a car coming off onto the intersection. Both of them are injured and on their way to Chicago Med. We'll have an update for you once we learn any new information. Stay tuned, I'm Marley Jafers. Back to you Shannon." Jay turned the TV off.

"Hospital, now! Get dressed." Erin ordered. She pulled her shoes on and got Shay. Jay and Erin got in the same car, Erin driving, and they headed to Med.

Jay carried Shay inside while Erin asked for room numbers.

"Maggie, please help us out here..." Erin worriedly ordered.

"Okay, but only this time."

They headed up to Burgess's room first. They walked in to find Ruzek holding her hand as they talked. "Kim, we brought someone...he really wanted to see you." Erin smiled.

"Shay, my little man!" She took him from Jay's arms and stared happily at him. "Have you guys chosen God parents?"

"No...we don't know yet...we're thinking about it." Jay lied.

"No...he's lying, we actually chose already, we are just waiting to tell them." She laughed. "The God parents are...."
