Calliope Jane Edwards
"Are you sure about this?" Sophia asked.
"Yeah, I mean we do have other contacts there and you're simply taking too much into your head." I tell her while I settled the file that was in front of me.
It's been a day since the dinner and yesterday, Samuel messaged me and told me that we would meet up today in the evening. Dani isn't very happy about it and is against. I told Sophia now while we were discussing some work via Skype, she hasn't told anything yet.
"I'm not talking about New York, you nut" I look up to look at her. "I meant about Samuel." Oh so she did have something to say about it.
"What about him?" I ask.
"Callie, you know how he is. He's going to flirt, you might fall for it and then end up feeling sad about it." And there she begin.
"Who spoke about falling for his flirts? We're meeting us as friends and I find that's alright." I respond.
"But-" "What happened back then was when I was a bit unstable and now I'm not." I tell her.
"You're still unstable." I sigh.
"I'm not. I'm perfectly fine. Yes I'm in love with Louis but he's moved on. To be honest it serves me right since he kept his feelings sealed within to keep our friendship." I explain.
"But heart of hearts, you're not happy about it."
"Soph, I need a distraction and for once I know Samuel is not going to try tricks for me to fall for. Plus, a little flirting is healthy, I haven't had any for a while." I heard her sigh.
"Look, Soph, I know what you're think. I'm probably the fool now for not telling him but I don't want to disturb his relationship. I'll be fine, I'm not going to date anyone anymore unless it's Louis and if the feeling is mutual after even years. I'm ready to wait."
"And you plan to ruin your friendship as well because Callie, as you told me you guys are not going to be comfortable being the way you were. You going to be fine with that?" She asked me.
"Well, emotions ruin everything. I have no other choice." I say and look at the time at the bottom of the screen. "I'll talk to you later, I need to get home and get ready for the evening." I tell her.
"Alright, have a good time. Just don't take any stupid step." She told me.
"I think I've taken enough of stupid steps in life." I say and end the call.
I lean back on my seat and closed my eyes. There was nothing wrong in what I'm doing, I'm just interacting and socializing.
With that thought, I grab my bag and got up from my chair and walked out of my office. I told some of my colleagues goodbye for the day and walked out to where my car was parked.
---
After beating the heavy traffic on the road, I reached my apartment only after an hour and a half which gave me limited time to get ready for the evening.
I had a quick shower and stood lost in front of my wardrobe in my robe. I did not know what to wear! Why is it really that hard for girls to find an attire even for a tiny little meet up?
I reached for my skinny jeans and got hold on some top for it and a jacket to go. I wear them on and decided to put my hair into a cute yet high ponytail. I applied some make up and then I was done.
