Calliope Jane Edwards
Apart from the annoying set alarm on my phone, an incoming call just makes it worse. I really wanted to avoid it but this phone has been ringing for three calls straight.
"Calliope Edwards" I say in my sleepy voice.
"Oh sweet! You're still sleeping!" Did it have to be Sophia?
"Why are you calling me so early?" I try and sit up, "It's nine Callie. How early is that?" I sigh.
"Why did you call me?" I ask her. "Is the wedding gown ready?" She asks. "Yeah. Finishing touches." I reply as I sit up and rest my back against the headboard. I look around my room and couldn't find Louis anywhere.
"Dani should have done a fitting already." I hear her say, "Callie don't make me have to call a boutique." I frown at her words. "Are you telling my team is not eligible to make a gown?" I was annoyed. I got out of bed and walk into the living room; still no sign of Louis.
"Sophia, I'm very well aware that my sister is getting married and I sure as hell know how to arrange for a wedding." I state.
"Oh, I never doubted your skills there. You did a splendid job at yours, didn't you? Where did that end up?" my eyes widen with what she said.
"Callie I-" I interrupt her, "Save it. I maybe a failure there or even to maintain a relationship Sophia but I am far from failure when it comes to my career." I sternly retaliate and end the call. I plop myself on the couch, dropping my phone on the side and have my head between my palms with my elbows resting on my knees.
I hear a door open and close, I look towards the door of my room to find Louis standing there looking at me in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. I look away. As much as I wanted to run up to him and hug him tight, I couldn't.
Instead, I grab my phone and keys and storm out of my own apartment. I felt as though my chest was tightening and I wanted to get out for some fresh air. My steps down the stairs were fast and ignored the greetings of my doorman when I left the building.
I let out a loud sigh with my hand on my chest, looking up at the morning cloudy sky. Groaning, I make my way to my car. Fidgeting with my car keys, I felt my legs feel cold by the breeze that blew. That's when I realised that I was still in my bed shorts and t-shirt. I somehow unlock my car and start the engine to start my drive pressing hard on the accelerator.
What Sophia said was just a thought said out loud. I've been having those thoughts and spending each minute with Louis made me feel as though I wasn't good enough for him. Yes! I know! I told him how much he completes me but let's be real now, I've not had one successful relationship with any man in my life. None of them!
I guess Dani has learnt from my mistakes and stayed with one man for all these years. They've had their share of difference but they've always made up and built on their relationship. I, on the other hand, have had men leaving me for silly reasons.
I quickly park at my spot and walk quickly into the boutique before getting any of the cold wind on my skin. I rush to my cabin and find some spare clothes in my cabin. As I wore them, I looked at the wedding gown that was at the end of my room. A smile fell on my lips knowing how much Dani would love the end product. It was everything she had asked for.
I walked over to my desk and sat on my chair. Leaning back on the chair, I turned around on the chair trying to get myself to feel dizzy. I stopped turning around when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in!" I yell and I hear the door open. I turn to face the door and I see my assistant standing there.
"I'm so sorry to not have brought in your morning usuals." she quickly apologises, "I didn't know you were coming in today." I shake my head and gesture her to come in.
