Chapter 17

Skylar’s POV

Shawn is really a great guy if he isn’t jealous or scared for his mate. In this last week we spend together we got quiet close. If it wasn’t for Liam he would even be my best friend but no one can take Liams place. I miss him already but what should I do? We don’t live in the same pack anymore so there is no way of meeting very often. At night I often think about how things might be going back at my old pack now. Are they happy that I left or do they want me pack? How is everything going with Riley and his pack?

I hate Adam with such a passion for doing this to me. He always seemed like the nice guy to me, I guess I was wrong. I really feel for Leo too. They are best friends but since the match it seems like Adam is just treating him like trash. I can’t even imagine what will happen when Adam turns eighteen next month or even twenty-one three years ahead. He doesn’t seem like he would make a great alpha. To me it seems like everyone else will just be treated like slaves then.

But let’s not think about this right now. I should concentrate on my new duties as an alpha. I guess since we are only four people I don’t have much to do but I have to find new pack members. I just don’t know where I can find any. It’s not like you can buy them or anything. When you are born you stay in your pack and so on there aren’t any wolves that aren’t in a pack except rouges. And most rouges aren’t really friendly or want to get into a new pack.

I have enough place for at least twenty wolves in my new territory. After we sorted all out the other day we went exploring together and found this huge cave where we are currently staying. It kinda looks like my old cave. There is a big chamber on the beginning and little rooms on the side of a tunnel which leads to a small chamber with a pool.

It’s really cold looking and all because we just moved here and there are so less of us here. We didn’t have any time to start decorating and stuff and the cave is just too big for us four. I fear that the pack won’t get bigger and rouges or another pack will just kill us one day.

“Hey” Rosie whispers in my ear hugging me from behind “Stop overthinking everything”. “But…” I start but she won’t let me finish my sentence and lays her finger on my lips. “Everything will be fine you will see” she tells me smiling softly. I look into her eyes and get lost in them. It seems like every time I start to worry she will notice and just lets me forget everything by hypnotising me with her beautiful eyes. We stay like that just looking into each other’s eyes holding us close.

When we suddenly hear growling we jump apart and I race outside where I heard the growling. So I start to worry again. What if someone already found us and tries to take us down? I’m a crappy alpha after all! Not even a minute after I head to the exit I’m outside looking at two wolves circling each other. One of them is Shawn and when I realise who the other one is I let out a relieved sigh.
