Luke was so happy.
It was the last week of his first trimester. He was proud that he hadn't managed to kill his baby inside his stomach. Less of a chance of miscarriage is just the type of reassurance he needed. He did a little happy dance in his room as he read the letter from Doctor Harper. He wanted to call everyone he knew but that wasn't a lot of people.
He looked back in the envelope and found the ultrasound pictures. Tears sprung into his eyes as he saw the pictures of his small baby. "The size of a pea pod." Luke whispered to himself, his thumb brushing across the glossy pictures.
He walked over to his phone, unlocking it and went to the FaceTime app to call Michael. He was currently at the library, studying for upcoming exams for his college class. Almost immediately after he called, Michael answered, his face popping up onto Luke's phone screen.
"Hey baby, is everything okay? How's the little one?"
Luke swore his heart skipped a beat. He smiled, loving the way Michael cared so much even though he was stressed to the max. "I got the letter from Doctor Harper and I wanted to tell you right away." Michael smiled, rubbing at his eyes sleepily. His voice was rough and scratchy as if he had been at the library for two days straight.
"Once I get through this week, I will officially be in my second trimester. A lower chance of having a miscarriage and I'm feeling amazing. Over the moon." Michael admired the way Luke's eyes shone even through the shitty camera quality. He gleamed with pride and joy and that's another reason why Michael liked Luke. His blue eyes spoke more than his pink lips.
Luke held up the two ultrasounds so Michael could see. "The baby is about the size of a pea pod. He or she can move their fingers now as well. They also have grown fingerprints in their itty bitty fingers."
Michael furrowed his eyebrows. "They?"

Dear Baby,
We finished our first trimester! You are still healthy which means less of a chance of miscarriage. I would be extremely sad and depressed if I lost you. Which I am proud to say that you are still hanging in there. You are extraordinary, little one.
Michael is in for a surprise when he comes over on Sunday. We are gonna share some big news with him. Also, his parents are coming in a few weeks. It's a little nerve racking but I have plenty of time to mentally prepare myself.I love you, peas in a pod
Love Daddy
Can you guess the big news?
