We said goodbye to Lydia and then we drove off. Clarissa had made plans to come over to my house on the first day of school.

I parked my car and we entered my lovely home. We were the only people present, my mom would come back until 9:00pm.

What a harsh job.

"You want something to eat or drink?" I questioned, taking a bite of an apple.

"Well, I guess I will take an apple like my bestie." She replied. I threw her the apple and she managed to catch it. I clapped for her sarcastically and she just rolled her eyes as she took a small bite.

We had a blast that afternoon in my room. We listened to music and talked about our first day; we both thought thought it turned out pretty good, considering Nathan; Clarissa's future boyfriend.

When time came around 8:00pm, I dropped off Clarissa at her house and made my way back. To my surprise I found my moms car parked. I guess she managed to come early since it was her first day.

"Hey mom, you're home early." I spoke, closing the front door.

"Hey honey, yeah for some reason they let me leave. When I heard those words I marched off. No need to tell me twice." I chuckled at her statement, my mom was a funny person to me. She might be a calm person at work but at home she was a blast!

"Hey, how about some pizza for dinner, I don't really feel like cooking today in all honesty" Cried my mom.

"Fine with me!" I stated, pizza was one of my favorite foods.

"Alright, I'll call. Pepperoni right?" She asked.

"Yeah, always!" I replied, running back upstairs.

During dinner, mom and I spoke about how our first day was. I told her about Clarissa's new future boyfriend and she just chuckled. I also told her about Lydia and her terrible moments at her old school, luckily she was safe here with us. I was pretty happy with my new encounters in Riverbank. I knew this year was going to be an awesome year.

The next morning, after getting out of the shower, I dressed up in some nice white jeans, a red t-shirt, and my red toms.

I placed my wavy hair in a high ponytail, and applied a bit of mascara as usual. I came downstairs, and found my mother gone already. She left a note on the counter next to the stove.

Carolina,

Unfortunately, I had to leave early for work. I hope they let me come early like yesterday :p, well anyways I left breakfast in the microwave. Have a good day, and always smile!

Kisses and hugs,

Mom

"Advantages of having a young mom!"

I heated my food and ate very quietly today. No one to speak to, or to listen. After brushing my teeth, I came out to my car and drove off to school.

I parked my car and entered the building. Walking through the halls, I made my way to my locker and grabbed my Chemistry book.

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I encountered myself with Clarissa.

"Hey!" She cried, showing her perfect straight teeth.

"What's up!" I smiled, closing my locker.

"Nothing, I was just looking for ya. Lets go to class." she said.

We marched up the halls, walking side by side, talking amongst ourselves.

Entering the classroom, we found the other students against the wall. Now that we remembered, we were receiving our assigned seats today.

We leaned next to each other, close to the entrance. Clarissa faced the entrance, and I faced the inside of the classroom. That's when eyes met an incredible surprise, and a light bulb in me lit up.

"Clarissa, scoot back a bit, I'm...too close to the entrance." I talked, showing a mischievous smile.

After two steps, Clarissa bumped into Nathan and eye contact moment came into action.

"I'm....I'm so sorry." Spoke Clarissa, I could tell she was scared as hell and wanted to run away and hide.

"It's alright." Replied Nathan, turning back around.
Clarissa's shy and nervous face switched to a furious one when her eyes met mine. I couldn't keep in my laugh, so I covered my mouth, while I chuckled.

"You're so paying for this." Whispered Clarissa, now knowing Nathan was behind her.

"Hey, at least you spoke to him." I spoke, recovering from all the laugh. She rolled her eyes. Seconds later, the sound of the first bell was heard. The teacher closed his door, and then turned to us.

"Alright, lets start with these seating arrangements." He brought his overhead and turned it on, revealing hand drawn rectangles with two names in each.

I skimmed all over and a sorrowful face appeared as I saw my name, but not with Clarissa. I recognized my name which was located in the middle of the classroom, next to a short brunette. I took a seat as I looked over to others as they were still trying to find their seat.

I looked back up on the overhead, and searched for Clarissa's name. Nothing on the front row, nor the second. I skimmed all over, but couldn't find her name.

I looked closely at all the rectangles, Michael and Elena, James and Ricardo, Albania and William.

When I came to the last row my mouth dropped open, and I had to place my hand in my mouth to avoid screaming.

I managed to find the rectangle I was searching for. It felt as if the rest of the rectangles darkened and that rectangle was the only one glowing.

In the second to last seat on the last row, Clarissa's name was written right next to Nathan's.
