The Lost Gems

Chapter 1

March 3rd, 1034
3:05 p.m

"Tanz you can't write that!" I yelled as she read her answer to number 2 in our favorite board game.

"Mines even worse!" Diamond yelled showing me her board. We all laughed.

Diamond,Tanzanite, and I lived together after we were chased out of our home last year. We lived in a fallen society, we weren't supposed to be alive. We lived in an old one story shack like house with very little necessities. Tanzanite is my older cousin, we call her Tanz for short. Diamond was both of our lifelong friend. I was 17, Tanz was 20, and Diamond was 19 . Life wasn't ideal but we had each other. We never fought or argued with one another in fear that we would lose each other . We used each other to survive.

"Aquamarine your such a buzz kill." Tanz said after she read my answer

" let me roll next " Diamond said as she grabbed the dice game piece. She rolled a "z"

"Oh great i know only a few words that start with a z, whatever lets just try." I said

I twisted the timer then hit the switch. The room went silent except for the little ticks from the timer that would go off after 3 minutes. I heard Diamond and Tanz mumble to themselves when they couldn't think of a word. I got to number 4 on my list but then was interrupted when there was 3 loud knocks on the door. We all looked up and were froze with fear. We hadn't seen anyone within the year we've been hiding here. We all looked at each other not knowing what to do. 3 more loud knocks. I waved the girls to go hide in the back room but they wouldn't .

"Let's see who it is ." I silently mouthed to them.

We all stood up and quietly crept towards the door. I reached out for the doorknob. 3 more knocks. I pulled the door open and was hit by a gust of cold wind but nobody was there.
