Chapter 10

"Sophia, how was school?" asked Marissa as Sophia, Zander, and Iris walked in the front door.

"Boring. We already know the materials," Zander replied as Sophia let out a sigh.

"We also didn't get a chance to talk to Carter," Sophia muttered.

"Sophia, Xavier leaves for Hunter Academy tomorrow. Be up by six-thirty, okay?"

"So you finally enrolled him?" Sophia asked as a small smile lit up her face.

"Yeah. They want him to go in early, so he can catch up. Emily still doesn't head back for another week or two."

"Sissy!" Emily said as she came around the corner.

"Hey, Emily." Emily's black hair was pulled up into a ponytail. Her and Xavier both took after Damien, their father while Sophia took after Marissa in hair color. Xavier and Sophia have brown eyes like their father, but Emily took Marissa's hazel eyes.

"I got you now!" Xavier shouted dropping down from the ceiling. Sophia took a step back and he flipped and landed on his feet. "You weren't supposed to move!" Sophia let out a laugh.

"Next time you want to do a sneak attack, you might wanna think about being more quiet," she said patting his head. Sophia began walking up the stairs to her room. She hung her bag up and sighed as she grabbed her computer. She opened it and pulled up YouTube. She turned on some music as she went back to Carter's profile. She began scrolling through his grades as a message appeared in her inbox. She clicked on it and pulled it up. 

Dear Sophia Davis,

I invite you and your friends to the palace in the Fairy's realm. If you intend on coming, wear formal clothing. It is Princess Kaydence's thirteenth birthday. Her and the rest of the royal family were asking about you and had me send you this. I look forward to seeing you February the seventeenth, Soph.

"It's been a while since I've seen Desiree. She left to go study in the Fairy's realm about a year ago if I remember," Sophia mumbled. "She should be heading back soon considering she's been there for that long." Sophia accepted the invitation and sighed. "That's still a month from now. I better go tell Zander and Iris."

"We already got the email from Desiree," Iris replied as she walked into the room.

"Yes, make yourselves at home," Sophia said sarcastically with an eye roll as Zander walked in and sat on the gaming chair.

"Don't worry. We already did," she said and Sophia sighed.

"Before we go anywhere in our world, we need to make some progress in this world. That means we need to recruit Carter and get Alpha asshole off our backs."

"Well, I think our job got a bit easier. I think Carter already knows about his shifting ability," Zander informed tossing Sophia two folders. She caught them and looked up at him in confusion as she ran her hand along the side of one.

"What are these?" Sophia asked.

"Those are the files of Rae Hendrix and Tyler Syler."

"Tyler Syler? Who would name their child that?" Iris asked a bit horrified by the name. Sophia let out a small laugh.

"Okay, what do they have to do with anything?"

"Rae and Tyler are Carter's best friends."

"Hmm?" Sophia opened Rae's folder and a look of utter shock crossed her face.

"What's wrong?" Iris asked.

"Well, when Zander said Rae, I figured it would be a boy, but..."

"Wait, Rae's not a boy?" Sophia shook her head and Iris let out a small laugh. "Okay, what do the files say?"
