"Zander, Iris, can I speak to you privately?" Sophia asked turning to them. She grabbed them and pulled them to the corner of the library. She glanced around suspiciously and grabbed the wand. "Silencio." An invisible, soundproof wall formed around them.
"What's wrong?" Iris asked.
"Nixie can't say anything else because of Warren. Iris, I want you to go find Desiree and then the two of you do a backgroud search on Warren. Zander, get Warren away from the table, so Nixie and I can talk and look through the journal."
"What about Zeldris?" Iris asked and Sophia bit her lip.
"Iris, get him to go with you. He won't be any help here because Warren hates him."
"Got it."
Sophia waved the wand and the wall disappeared and they walked back over to the group.
"Come on, Zeldris. We're going to find Desiree," Iris said cheerfully as she grabbed his arm and began pulling him away.
"Uh, okay?" he replied, confused.
"Warren, can you, perhaps, take me to Fay and Ella's office?" Zander asked.
"How did you know they had an office?" he asked.
"Well, if they liked the legend, then they must have done research on other things. I just want to see if I can find anything in there."
"Okay, it's this way." Warren led Zander away and Sophia watched as their figures disappeared before turning to Nixie.
"Silencio," Sophia whispered forming the wall around them and the table. "Nixie, what else was there?"
"My mom told me not to trust dad."
"Do you know why?" Sophia asked.
"The reason she knew that she would die is because she overheard my dad talking to the Shadow Callers. They had struck a deal. In order for mine and my mother's lives, he gives up where we are, so they can get the journal. They broke the agreement when they killed my mom, but my dad had sold her and the queen out."
"Is that why your dad hates the Shadow Callers?" she asked.
"I don't know. I think he-"
"Stop talking. I'm taking down the barrier because your dad is coming back. He'll be suspicious if he sees this up," Sophia quickly said as she waved her wand and then stuck it in her boot.
Warren rounded the corner to see Sophia and Nixie looking at the book.
"You got anything?" he asked and Sophia let out a sigh.
"Nothing. I'm stumped," she said and Nixie nodded.
"Same here."
"I'm gonna go to my room for now. We'll continue this tomorrow, okay?" Sophia asked and Nixie nodded. "All right. Later."
"You're not going anywhere with my wife's journal!" Warren snapped and Sophia glowered at him.
"There's two things wrong with that sentence. One, it is also the property of the royalty. Second, you can't even touch it," Sophia replied. Warren reached out to grab the book out of her hands, but roots shot out of the ground and wrapped around him.
"I know this is your doing!" he snapped and Sophia growled.
"I can't use Nature magic, you dip!" she snapped back. "The only one on my team that can use Nature magic is Desiree, and she's not here right now. It's clear that the book can't stay here, especially when you can't touch it. I'll keep it under my protection."
