Chapter 22

"It's been so long!" Desiree said as she hugged Iris and Zander. "It's great to see you guys!"

"Same to you. You've changed a lot!" Sophia said as she looked Desiree over.

"So have you guys. Zander, you've gotten taller. Iris, I don't know how, but your hair is even more pink than before. Sophia, your hair has gotten longer!"

"And you've become less shy," Sophia said and Desiree laughed.

"I have? I never noticed. Anyway, what all have I missed?"

"A lot," the three replied at the same time.

"Really?"

"Yeah. The Headmaster sent us on a mission in the human world," Zander informed.

"Why?"

"We'll discuss that here in a little bit," Sophia cut in, giving Desiree a look. Desiree instantly understood and nodded.

"Okay, let's go see Lady Kaydence. She's been waiting for you guys."

They began following Desiree to the palace, but she came to an abrupt stop. She turned around and looked over at Zeldris. "What's wrong?" Sophia asked.

"Zeldris, can you do me a favor?"

"Depending on what it is," he replied.

"Can you go help the party planners set up?" Zeldris glanced at Sophia for a minute and then sighed.

"Yeah. I'll be back in a bit." He nodded at them and took off.

"Did you have to send him off?" Iris whined and Desiree glanced over at her confused.

"Iris said she called dibs," Sophia informed.

"Ohhh. What part of him caught your eye?"

"He's hot." Desiree, Sophia, and Zander laughed and Iris rolled her eyes.

"Oh, can you do us a favor?" Sophia asked just as she remembered something.

"What do you need?"

"Can you go to the library and get every book you can on markings?"

"Markings? As in body markings?" Sophia nodded and Desiree frowned. "What happened?"

"We'll explain at the library, but we have to go see Kaydence right now. After we see Kaydence we'll head to the library. Can you head there now?"

"Sure. Kaydence should be in class right now." Sophia nodded and they headed in the direction of the school while Desiree cut off from them and headed to the library.

"I hope they won't mind us interrupting," Iris said and Sophia rolled her eyes.

"When have you ever cared about interrupting someone?"

Zander laughed and Iris gaped at her. "I care!" Sophia looked back at her with a look that said, Really? "Sometimes..." Sophia put a hand on her hip. "Okay, not really!"

"That's what I thought."

"Yeah, yeah." Iris rolled her eyes as Sophia pulled open the door to the school. She let Zander and Iris go in before her and then she walked in and let the door shut behind her. They walked down the hall and Sophia turned to a door and glanced into the room full of water talent fairies.

"She's in here." Sophia opened the door and her, Zander, and Iris walked in and stood at the back of the class. Almost all eyes turned to them but they stayed silent and leaned against the wall as they watched a girl with familiar aqua blue hair start to raise her hands. Her hair was pulled up into pigtails but even then, her hair almost reached the ground. Kaydence's bangs fell into her face and she opened her aqua blue eyes, but it was as if she wasn't looking at the room in front of her.
