Battle Plan

(His point of view)

Over the course of the past two days, Daegan has completely blown my mind with some unbelievable strategies. And I must admit, he truly was born to lead an army. His mind is brilliant, just as Link had said. The past two mornings, we have assembled in the council room to go over more options. We have yet to reach a final conclusion, but the fact that we are now finally getting closer has made me feel so very relieved. The faint light of hope that began budding just the other day has continued to brighten.

Per Daegan's polite request, I drew out a very thorough map of Jotunheim so as to allow for him and the men to learn of their soon to be surroundings. That way, they could get a fill for what the land would look like and what sorts of landscapes they would be dealing with. Mainly, large amounts of sharp rocks, mountains of ice, and heaps on snow.

Daegan was pleased to hear that Jotunheim offers so many tall spikes of rock and frozen limestone. He stated quite confidently that this will only help us in keeping our men concealed when need be. One of the best ways to outsmart your enemy is to use their terrain against them, according to him. And once again, I have to admit that this does make sense. Almost too simple, but so very accurate.

One of the first things that Daegan ordered was for us to change our plan of staying all together. Splitting up the Asgardian and Medianian men would only aid further in allowing the Jotuns to think that they have us outnumbered. We have successfully divided the men into large groups by their weapons. Upon immediate arrival into Jotunheim, we will have the archers stay behind and hide in the ridges of snow so as to be concealed from the line of sight. Daegan has also stated that it might be a good idea to allow some of our stronger Asgardian warriors to stay behind along with them in case they are discovered and need protection whilst firing their arrows. The men skilled with spears will be on the front line so as to pierce the oncoming first charge from the enemy. Swords will be just behind them. Daegan has decided that we should add our element of surprise through a more traditional, yet sufficient means. After studying the landscape on the map that I had drawn, he ordered that upon arriving, a selected group of Medinian warriors were to make a straight line for the palace of ice. The Asgardian soldiers, minus the archers, are to immediately make a hard left. They are to move swiftly in silence to hide out behind an enormous mound of land that will no doubt be drowned in thick layers of piled up snow. This will allow for the perfect concealment until the time comes for them to charge out from the side after the battle has commenced. Hiding our numbers is a surefire way to catch the giants off guard. Daegan had looked over all of our own previous ideals, stating that they were rather good. But he also stated that what we failed to remember is that you can never outsmart your enemy by being intricate and complicated in your strategy. It is all about using the obvious, for that is what your adversary will be least likely to expect. And yet again, I am left feeling quite impressed with his advice. As a matter of fact, I feel a little dimwitted for not realizing the obviousness of his plans from the very beginning.

The only thing left to decipher is coming up with a successful plan to get me to Christine without me being noticed.

"It seems that no matter how we pan out, we cannot find an efficient way to keep Loki concealed," Link states in frustration. I am racking my brains for answers, studying the map that is sprawled out before us. Daegan huffs in aggravation before placing his chin in his hand. The room falls silent for a time. I watch as he seems to be deep in thought. I am silently praying that his mind can somehow come up with something.

Suddenly, he jerks his head over in my direction; his eyes round as saucers.

"Loki, you are a master of Magic."
