MARCUS' P.O.V.
Perhaps it's pretty late for me just to grasp that I was never befitting of those sparkling stares in her eyes, as well as those expressive sorrow, as I am just that someone who used to be starving to be cherished by her in whatever way.
I was too enthralled in my own love to start noticing hers, and made me believed she never felt the same way. I was too naive to believe that what we had between us had always been or to be labeled as a one-sided love. However, I think that I was just confused. And yet again, my love for her was so overwhelming that it dazzled me, hence why I didn't even notice that she was staring at me and crying for me in much the same way that I do to her.
But a dimwit like me is undeserving of any of it. And I knew that one morning, I'll witness her glance into someone else's eyes and shed teardrops for that person. And perhaps, it'll all be worth it.
And it pains me seeing her like that. Hindi ko rin alam. Hindi ko maintindihan ang sarili ko.
“No. It's okay iha. Wala kang kasalanan. Ano ba ang pinaggagawa ni Fleur? Wala siyang nakwekwento sakin eh.”
Tanong ni Tita Jean and it caught us off guard.
I was going to say no and cover up for Althea, but I was too late.
“Actually Tita, opo. Pasensya na po tita. Huwag niyo po sana siyang pagalitan. Ako po talaga ang nakipag-away. Pinagtanggol lang po ako ni Althea.” Sagot ni Sherickha saka siya yumuko.
Tita Jean smiled at her and held her cheeks. She really does treasure Sherickha like her own daughter.
“Alright. Hit me up when you get home safe and sound, okay?” Nakangiting sagot ni Tita Jean.
Nauna na siyang lumabas ng kwarto. Nagpaalam kaming magkasunod ni Marius saka kami lumabas.
“Mauna na ko. I'll just commute na lang.” Sabi ni Sherickha sa'min, but she didn't look at my eyes. She looked at Marius.
