Prussia's P.O.V

It was a beautiful spring day and I was out in my garden at Königsberg, breathing in the fresh air.

The light scents of flowers filled the air, the trees rustled with the gentle wind. All was calm and peaceful and I sighed as I looked at the cloudy skies. While I got lost in my thoughts, the rustle of a bush a little further away caught my attention.

Curious, I gingerly walked to the bush and pushed the leaves away. There was a little girl behind it, who suddenly took notice of me. Her eyes widened in shock.

"I'm sorry!" She apologized and scurried off.

Before she even moved, I caught her by the back of her collar and took her in my arms.

"Who are you?" I asked and held her high up, "Do you want something from the awesome me?"

"I want an apple from your tree!" she replied shyly as her cheeks turned into a shade of pink.

"Okay, but why?" I asked.

"I am going to make something with it and I will not tell you what!" She declared.

She was such a charming little girl in appearance and seeing her, I almost felt like I saw in her my brother Germany when he was younger. I put her down and plucked a few apples from my tree and gave them to her.

"Danke!" She grinned and ran off.

I was curious. I really wanted to know why she wanted the apples. Was she going to make something nice out of it? I guess my only choice is to stop assuming and just wait.

"Bruder!" Called Ludwig.

I turned back and found Ludwig standing at the backyard door.

"Ja?" I answered. He joined me in the garden and asked,

"Who was that?"

"Not a clue. I've seen her a couple times and I think she lives in the forest all by herself." I said, "I've never seen her with any adults,"

"She lives in the forest? That's dangerous. " Ludwig exclaimed as a look of worry flashed on his face.

Well, isn't that just like him? Even if he's just acquainted with a person, he'll secretly worry about them. Germany may be built, strong, and look like he doesn't mess around, but really, he's the softest, most kindest person ever.

"Indeed," I sighed and then said with a chuckle, "but the little one came for some apples and didn't tell me why she wanted it."

"She's probably making something good." Germany stifled a little grin, which made me smile too.

----

I was sitting in my room at my desk which faced the large window and I was writing in my diary about the brief encounter with the little girl. As soon as I was one, I sat back and drank the rest of the coffee remaining in my mug while I stared at the scenery outside.

The little girl's face kept flashing in my mind. I've seen her several times in my garden, sneaking an apple or two, but I didn't make a move on her until today. She clearly was a nice young one who was curious about me, but I was afraid to befriend her.

She was a mortal, a human being, while I was the personification of a centuries old kingdom that still lives to this day. I don't know how long I'll live, but since shes's human, I will outlive her, and she will die one day, inevitably.

And if I do befriend her, and she meets her death, I will never be able to be with that little one again. We would be separated and I didn't want it to happen. Alas, I had no power over it.
