Song: Shawn Mendes - Bad Reputation
Requested by Kirimilliganhadlen
Im Soo Jin was an irreplaceable friend. She was kind, beautiful, and full of life. That was her, until someone decided to concoct a terrible rumor about her.
She was chaste and undefiled, yet everyone claimed that she had several one night stands. She was genuinely kind, yet everyone claimed that her kindness was nothing less a façade; that she was ruthless, and harsh.
False witnesses popped up everywhere, even from her own friends. She felt betrayed, but she didn't say anything. She would've spoken up, but she didn't know how to prove her innocence.
You saw everything from start to end, yet you stuck to Soo Jin like glue and refused to believe anything anyone was saying about her.
Why?
You knew her better than anyone else. Even her own siblings didn't know her like you did.
You knew that she was nothing like they claimed her to be. Both of you were explicit with your feelings, so you knew even the smallest details of hers.
She often told you to stay away, because your reputation was getting trampled on because of her. She always said that with tears in her eyes. You knew she was helpless without you, her only pillar of support.
"To hell with my reputation!" you'd say adamantly, "I just to be with you."
And you meant it. You'd go everywhere around the school with her, like her personal bodyguard. The taunts of other students often tested your patience. You'd usually give them a death glare to freeze them, but you stopped doing that and ignored them instead.
You found it pointless to give them attention.
One day, during lunch break, you were making your way to the roof, expecting Soo Jin to be there. On the way there, you overheard someone gossiping about her.
"I heard that she is bribing _____ with a large sum of money to protect her. How underhanded, isn't it?" said one of the guys as they watched you pass by.
You stopped in your tracks, took a U-turn, and caught one of them by the shoulder.
"And where have you heard that, Jong Se Jun?" you asked with a smile, making them shriek.
"Huh? _____?" Se Jun looked at you with fright, "I-I-I just randomly heard someone say it, I don't know who!"
You grabbed him by the collar.
"Is that so?" you continued smiling, "Can you tell me how much of it is true?"
"I-I-I don't know!" he stuttered, looking this way and that.
"Then don't be a little shit and spread rumors that you don't know are true." you glared at Se Jun sharply and let his collar go.
You clicked your tongue as you walked to the roof. Upon opening the door, you found Soo Jin standing there in front of her fallen lunch box. Her food was scattered all over. Had she accidentally dropped her box?
"Soo Jin?" you called as you closed the door behind you and walked up to her, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." she turned to me and smiled. Her face had a few marks and scratches, and her long braid looked loose, as if it was pulled by something.
"Soo Jin." you said firmly, in a voice that demanded the truth. She looked away for a moment.
"While I was waiting for you, some girls came here and found me, so they decided to bully me." she said, "They kicked my lunch box, slapped me, swore at me, and pulled my hair."
