It was five in the morning and you couldn't sleep. You were lying on your carpeted floor, staring at the ceiling, feeling painful, burning sensation of the blood flowing out of your wrist.
You were not sure what was painful. Your worries, depression, anxiety, or the actual physical pain on your wrist. You were at your lowest point in your life.
School didn't seem fun like how it used to be. Everyone seemed to be staring at you and judging. Everything seemed hard to do. You hated it when the morning came; it only meant that you had to struggle on for another day.
You lifted your arm and stared at the now slowing blood flow. You knew it was wrong to harm yourself, yet doing it and feeling the stinging pain felt satisfying. So with much difficulty, you threw the blade in the corner of your room.
Depression, anxiety, peer pressure, fear, they were not a roaring like a puny little lion. It was more like a dragon inside you. It was so strong that you, sometimes couldn't resist it.
Everyday was a raging war with the dragon.
You forced yourself to get up and go to the bathroom. Even though you hated to go to school, you still decided to. Your parents weren't paying your school fees for nothing. You decided to respect that.
You washed your sleep deprived face, did your hair, and slowly ate breakfast. Before heading out, you put on a thick jacket over your hoodie, a beanie, scarf and jeans, and packed your backpack.
There was a few hours before school could start so you decided to wander around and at least appreciate the overcast and cold weather. The chilly breeze was rather comforting as you trudged through the snow covered sidewalks.
Even though you decided to wander around, your legs took you to the school.
Sighing, you sat down on the bench nearby and aimlessly gazed at the empty roads. Much time had passed when a gruff voice popped your thought bubble.
"What are you doing here?"
You turned to the voice, only to find Matt, a classmate of yours.
He was wrapped up in a black scarf, he wore a red flannel shirt under a thick leather jacket. He wore black jeans with a little rips and cuts which were never there before, and some motorcycle boots.
You didn't know him much, except that he was quite a feared guy in school. He was pretty much a lone wolf, because he looked scary and acted scary too. The way he dressed preached of his "bad boy" behavior.
You didn't know why he was feared. Every time he spoke to you (which was only a few times), he seemed rather gentle and quiet. It was almost as if he chose his words carefully while talking to you. You felt like he was treating you like fragile glass.
You were not sure, but it was only a feeling.
"I could ask you the same." You replied.
"I couldn't sleep in, so I got up and came outside." He let out a heavy breath as he noticed the backpack you had, "You're really early to school today."
"Same reason." You half smiled, "I couldn't sleep either."
He narrowed his eyes at you for a split second and nodded. After a moment of silence, he asked quietly,
